Posted ā¢ š®š³Letās Celebrate Holi!: Indiaās Festival of Colors by Ajanta Chakraborty () and Vivek Kumar (). šŗ
šø Today is Holi, which celebrates the arrival of spring and the victory of good over evil. Itās one of my favorite holidays from when I was a kid belonging to two culturesānow also quickly becoming my own childrenās favorite days of the year. To commemorate, I thought Iād share the book we used to introduce Holi to them.
āļø This book is part of a beloved series that celebrates and showcases Indian culture with siblings Maya, Neel, and their little squirrel friend Chintu. Here, the three visit India and learn all about the origins of Holi, how to celebrate it, a little bit of its geographical divergences, and what to eat!
š Itās a great book for young readers to pick up on the basics of the holiday and also give people like me a bit of nostalgia for being a kid during this fun celebration.
š¹ This title will teach you that everybody is a friend on Holi, and youāll love spraying colorful water and powder on all your neighbors to commemorate the change in seasons and the end to a cold, gray winter. If you can, eat some jilebi, make a š„ bonfire, and put on some Holi Bollywood tracks, too!
šŗ Happy Holi! Or as they say in India, Holi Hai!
