In historic homes, craftsmanship matters.
In this Greek Revival primary suite, the quiet palette allows the workmanship to lead. Cathedral ceilings wrapped in beadboard soften the scale, but it is the hand-crafted elements that give the room depth.
A hand-knotted carpet grounds the space with density and texture underfoot. Hand-blocked drapery introduces pattern at a restrained scale, each repeat carrying subtle variation. Handmade and glazed ceramic lamps by a New England artisan add warmth and irregularity that factory pieces cannot replicate. The furniture was selected for its craftsmanship and joinery, not just silhouette.
In the adjoining bath, custom cabinetry and a waterjet stone mosaic continue the emphasis on material integrity.
Layered interiors are strongest when they are built, not assembled.
Save this if you value craftsmanship in your home.

A pantry should feel intentional, not leftover.
In this Greek Revival, cabinetry, beadboard walls, and trim are finished in a warm taupe, creating a unified envelope that feels calm and considered rather than decorative.
The integrity of a renovation shows in its smallest rooms.
Save this if you believe every space in a home deserves the same level of attention.

Family rooms succeed when comfort and proportion are equally considered.
In this Greek Revival, a deep sectional anchors the space, creating a place where everyone naturally gathers. A low coffee table with a painted finish and iron base keeps the center of the room open while adding a subtle architectural note.
Grasscloth brings warmth to the walls against the painted millwork, and soft blue accents carry through from adjacent rooms to keep the palette connected without feeling overly coordinated.
When scale, texture, and restraint work together, a family room can feel both composed and completely relaxed.
Save this if you believe comfort should still feel intentional.

Historic homes often feature either painted millwork or stained wood. The key is understanding what each material does to a room.
In this Greek Revival, the surrounding spaces remain light and restrained. At the center of the plan, custom walnut cabinetry introduces a deliberate shift from painted surfaces to natural wood.
Cristallo quartzite runs from counter to full-height backsplash, bringing luminosity against the darker cabinetry. Brass shelving, hardware, and faucet add warmth and a subtle glow.
The walnut carries visual weight. Café curtains and a vintage runner soften the composition so the darker millwork feels grounded rather than heavy.
Natural wood anchors a room differently than paint. Used selectively, it creates depth without overpowering the architecture.
Save this if you are balancing paint and stain in a renovation.

A study in contrast. We blended textures in this spa-like primary bath. The floating oak vanity brings the warmth, while the bold marble brings the drama. Who wouldn’t want to get ready here? 🤍
