Seeing a food allergy psychologist years ago truly changed my life. Living with food allergies is not easy, but there are real coping strategies that can make navigating it so much more doable. You don’t have to figure this out alone, and learning the tools to manage the mental load can genuinely transform your quality of life! If you are able to see a food allergy psychologist, I highly recommend it. I also really recommend following these amazing food allergy mental health professionals:

shares what dining out with celiac disease actually feels like when a mistake can wipe you out for weeks.

The scary part is not just the moment it happens. It’s not knowing how bad it’s going to be or how long it’s going to last. And sometimes cross contact hits harder than eating straight gluten. Every reaction is different, and that unpredictability is exhausting in its own way.

I will never ever gatekeep allergy safe restaurants, and one of my all time fave spots is Street Taco in NYC!! I have been coming to this restaurant for YEARS, like since my sophomore year of college, and they have always done an amazing job taking my food allergies seriously. They have so many gluten, dairy, egg, nut, sesame, and seafood free options, and they are great with preventing cross contact. This is not sponsored by the way :)

My dairy allergy is probably by far the most bizarre and frustrating allergy I’ve ever had. Five years ago, I became allergic to dairy, but eventually started tolerating it if it was cooked. And even though I could tolerate it cooked, I was still very cautious about what foods I was eating, so I fully avoided Doritos because I didn’t think they would be safe. Then my cooked dairy allergy came back, and it wasn’t until a few months ago that I fully outgrew it again, so now I’m slowly adding cooked dairy back into my diet. For the first time in five years, I got to try Doritos again, and oh my goodness, I forgot how good they are 😂😭

Last week I had the privilege of attending the May Contain My Life movie premiere in Kansas City, and it was such an incredible experience. In this video I had the opportunity to be interviewed and share my perspective on the film!

This movie portrays the food allergy experience in such an accurate way, and that is honestly so rare to see. It gives me a lot of hope for the future of food allergy advocacy. I loved it and it brought me to tears both times I’ve watched it.

If you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, May Contain My Life is screening in AMC theaters nationwide May 22nd through the 29th. Go get your tickets!

🎙️ NEW EPISODE IS LIVE 🎙️

In this episode of The Food Allergy Brain, I sat down with Lex Decker, the creator behind , who has been living with celiac disease for 17 years and has built one of the most beloved gluten free communities on the internet.

Lex opens up about being diagnosed at just 10 years old, what it was really like growing up before gluten free options existed, and the fear that never fully goes away when you’re dining out with a condition where one mistake can take you out for weeks.

Lex also shares her eating disorder journey and the role celiac played in it. It is a raw, honest, and really important conversation that I think so many of you are going to connect with.

The day has come to do OIT from home, and thankfully it was not as daunting as I anticipated! It was actually very easy. My nurse and doctor at Latitude Food Allergy Care gave me a very in-depth overview of how to do OIT from home, which brought me so much peace of mind!
