More Than Meets The Eye.

What looks like two brothers arguing over lunch is actually one of the most quietly powerful paintings of the Civil War era.

Eastman Johnson painted Lunchtime in 1865 — the year the war ended. At first glance it’s simple. Almost funny. An older boy guarding his bowl from a younger one. But look closer.

The toys scattered on the floor? They look like cannons. The flower petals in the doorway? A symbol of peace. The two boys — one with power, one without — are believed to represent the North and the South.

Johnson hid an entire nation’s story inside an everyday family moment.

This is what we love about art. It teaches our kids to slow down, look closer, and find meaning in things that seem ordinary. That’s a skill that lasts a lifetime.

What do you see when you look at it? ⬇️

Summer is full of opportunities to teach lessons that don’t come from a workbook.

Bake cookies for a neighbor. Pick wildflowers and leave them with a note. Wash a friend’s windows. Small acts of kindness help children learn to notice others, serve with joy, and use their gifts to bless the people around them.

One of our favorite parts of the June Tea Time Guide is the kindness challenge, filled with simple ways families can spread a little extra joy this summer.

Travel the world from your kitchen table. Our geography tea time doesn’t just teach facts—it cultivates wonder. 🌍

Each month, we “travel” to a new continent. Each week, we step into a new country—its people, its stories, its food, its beauty. From ancient traditions to shared meals around the table, your children experience the world not as distant… but as deeply human.

This is more than geography.
It’s an invitation to raise children who are curious, respectful, and captivated by the beauty of the world.

✨ The kind of learning that lingers long after the lesson is over.
