Ivy Branscomb’s journey with TPI is a powerful reminder of what can happen when students are given the opportunity to explore, learn, and see themselves in STEM.

From gaining her first research experience at Boston Children’s Hospital to pursuing Health Science at Northeastern University, Ivy continues to build toward her dream of becoming a physician. 🩺🔬

🎓🥼 Celebrating Student Achievement at TPI’s 5th Quarter Symposium!

On August 6, The Pathway Initiative celebrated the culmination of its 5th Quarter summer program with a Student Research Symposium and White Coat Pinning Ceremony at Boston Latin School.

Our students proudly showcased their research on environmental conditions in Greater Boston and maternal and infant mortality outcomes, demonstrating their growth in scientific inquiry, critical thinking, collaboration, and presentation.

The celebration also included a White Coat Pinning Ceremony and the presentation of certificates of participation, recognizing the students’ dedication and accomplishments throughout the program.

We were honored to have our CEO Dr. Lawrence Mensah and Board Director Shannon Watterson join us in celebrating our students.

A special thank you to our incredible program team - Fatima Smith, Saadia Coleman, Melissa Knight, and Marsha Blalock for their dedication, guidance, and support in making the program a success.

Did you know that science and writing can come together to improve healthcare?

Our Summer STEM students recently explored the exciting field of medical writing during a career pathways session led by Sophie Dorf-Kamienny, Medical Writer at Costello Medical.

Sophie shared her career journey, explained how medical writers help communicate scientific discoveries and healthcare information, and encouraged students to consider the many opportunities available beyond traditional STEM careers.

We're incredibly grateful to our partner Costello Medical and to Sophie for volunteering her time to support our mission to inspire and prepare the next generation of STEM leaders.

We’re proud to share that The Pathway Initiative (TPI) has been selected as a recipient of a Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) Out-of-School Time (OST) Grant!

As part of a statewide investment of $12.3 million across 68 awards, the MLSC is expanding access to high-quality life sciences education and workforce development opportunities for students across Massachusetts.

This investment strengthens our commitment to ensuring that students, especially those from historically underrepresented communities, have access to hands-on STEM learning, meaningful mentorship, and pathways to careers in healthcare and the life sciences.

We are deeply grateful to the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center and the Healey-Driscoll Administration for investing in organisations that are building the next generation of innovators, researchers, and healthcare leaders.
