Student feature: Hannah Nations!

Upon moving to Boston Hannah took a one time pottery class and was hooked! She has been with Clay Lounge ever since the Somerville Studio opened. She is an aquaculture specialist at Boston Children’s Hospital, taking care of zebrafish.

When she isn’t at work or making pottery, she can be found at the aquarium, reading while snuggling her dog Jelly Bean, or finding another creative outlet like crocheting or painting.

Q: What is the piece you are most proud of making?

I am currently most proud of my snail watering can/teapot that my friend has named Spork. I have done lots of smaller sculpted animals but never tried one this big or with as many delicate parts. It is also one of the most homogenous combinations of throwing, altering, and hand building I have done so far. Honorable mention goes to the first bowl I ever threw, not only did I feel proud at the time I made it but now I can look at it and see how far I’ve come.
