Did you know there was such a thing as floatovoltaics? That's floating + photovoltaic panels, which means putting solar panels on a body of water.
Members of the ASUREI are working on App State's first floatovoltaic system, and despite the April Fool's Day blizzard, were out attaching the panels to the frame and performing a second float test. This three-panel project will serve as a feasibility test for larger floating solar applications. A relatively new concept, most floating solar farms are currently located in China and the U.K., and the largest floating solar array in this country is a 4.4MW system in Sayreville, New Jersey.
Are you a student interested in joining the ASUREI? They're now taking applications for membership - email [email protected] for more information!

Project Management is involved in the ex*****on and implementation of renewable energy projects approved by the ASUREI. We focus on completing the steps required to turn ideas into reality. This ranges from brainstorming ideas, to feasibility studies, direct contact with design and construction, contracting, installation, and maintenance that are all key components in developing renewable technologies on campus.
If you are interested in Project Management and have any questions about this committee-you can contact the PM Co-Chairs Daniel Johnson ([email protected]) or Dillon Pratt ([email protected])
