Always an honor to be a grant recipient from amazing organizations, like Valley View Educational Enrichment Foundation, that work to help our children learn and grow.
Thank you to the amazing schools that had me come into their classrooms this 2025-26 school year

STEM learning in the classroom-- use some old potatoes that are starting to bud to help teach about plants and plant structures! Learn about tubers and how they differ from roots!

Great lessons this week. Engaged, excited, and respectful 4th grade students. Found a nice message on one of my question boards 🥹 Got a classroom applause 👏And a class "5-finger swag wave"👋
Well done to the students, teachers, and admins for creating an environment of supportive learning, positivity, and wonder

Bravo to Ms. Wolfe's class on figuring out the extra credit math problem-- how many spoons of sugar is in this movie theatre "cup" of pop? 😳☠️

Just think how easily we can mindlessly drink all of that while sitting in a movie for 2 hours.

Classic book! 💩 Do people still read this to their young ones?!
I've mentioned it in several classes now when talking about fiber and haven't come across a student that knows it yet. 😢

Learning some STEM about corn and popcorn for summer!

At the end, students got to taste what natural, air-popped popcorn tastes like without all the fats, salt, and flavor chemicals added to it. Surprisingly, they ate it up!

We've been learning the STEM behind some "summer" foods.
Cutting some parallel and perpendicular lines, aka dicing, to make our cabbage into cole slaw.

Thank you to Mrs. Furlan and the whole 4th grade team for welcoming me into your classrooms this year. We had a great time learning STEM concepts about several foods, including sugar!

Thank you to Valley View Educational Enrichment Foundation for helping make this possible.

Ms. Furlan’s 4th Grade class enjoyed their final Let’s Eat! STEM activity. Students learned about the history of sugar cane, how to build a sugar molecule, how a centrifuge works, and much more! Thanks Mrs. Z for helping us learn!

Students get to try 3 kinds of potatoes in our potato lesson-- brown skin, yellow skin, and red skin potatoes. They learn how the amount of starch affects the texture of the cooked potato. It's always interesting to see what kind they like.

Wrapped up the STEM lessons for January! VVSD students learned all about apples, topped off their learning with some spiced hot apple cider, and even got to see my beautiful bumblebee up close as they learned about pollination.
