Great map showing the housing shortage by county. At least Ada is not pure red, just orange.
The U.S. housing shortage mapped by county
This map shows estimated housing shortages across U.S. counties, assuming a nationwide shortfall of roughly six million homes. Shortage here is expressed as a share of existing housing stock, allowing differences between large urban counties and smaller rural ones to be compared on the same scale.

Americans are moving half as much as they did 30 years ago, yet there are more Realtors today. No wonder my business is slower.
Americans are stuck in place. 🔗 https://on.wsj.com/3Hz5uRd
People are moving to new homes and new cities at around the lowest rate on record. Companies have fewer roles for entry-level workers trying to launch their lives. Workers who do have jobs are hanging on to them.
Economists worry the phenomenon is putting some of the country’s trademark dynamism at risk.

This is shocking! The rate of married 30-year olds buying a home has plummeted since 1990. This is not just affordability, this is lack of foresight. We Realtors need to do a better job teaching about the benefits of home ownership. Young people have missed out on huge equity gains on the best long term investment- building equity tax-free up to $500k. Renting and investing elsewhere just does not compare over the long run. If you know someone who needs to buy a home, have them contact me for help making a plan to achieve the dream.
This graph really tells a story: estimate percentage of U.S. adults who are both married and own a home by age 30.
Those of you who have kids or grandkids in that age bracket -- what do you hear from them? Housing costs? Wedding costs? Costs of having kids? Not interested in the responsibilities of home ownership? A combination of those and more?
What do you think has changed generationally?

Boise Metro median home prices rose during Q2, but not as much...
The year over year numbers are much flatter than they have been. Ada County is up only 0.8% and Canyon County is down 1.23% from the same time last year. Good news for future home buyers! Call me if you are ready to become a homeowner this year.
