Thank you to everyone who attended our open house last night. More than a hundred people toured the Ashtree Passive House and had great feedback and questions! Thanks to ICL for hosting the event and to the home owners, who kindly opened their house for us.

The Ashtree Passive House gets a custom, open tread, staircase as one of the final steps toward completion.

We are busy with interior finishes at the Ashtree Passive House. Cabinets and built-ins are being installed, the walls are painted and the hardwood floors are being laid today. Soon the house will undergo the final steps towards PHIUS+ certification through the Passive House Institute US.

Two unique features have been installed at the Ashtree Passive House in recent weeks, additional framing for extra thick walls, and triple pane high-efficiency Zola European Windows. Soon the house will undergo an air tightness test to meet one of the key elements required for PHIUS+ rating.

Great progress this week. The window bucks are installed, the facia is in place and the roof underlayment is finished. With the structural framing complete, we will move on to special features such as installing triple pane windows and a mechanical ventilation system.

With trusses on and the roof sheathed, the Ashtree Passive House, is taking shape. Enerform architect, Scott Yribar, designed large roof overhangs to shade the windows from the summer sun and to add visual appeal.

We made good progress on the project this week. The house is taking shape and another critical piece to building a Passive House has begun - air sealing. Every gap and crack is being sealed with special tape to prevent accidental air leakage.
WALLS GO UP AND AIR SEALING BEGINS The structural framing is nearing completion and roof trusses are soon to be installed. The Ashtree Passive House uses a Larsen-Truss wall assembly based on conventionally framed 2"x6" construction. Framing is in place for the large south facing windows in the first floor. Four 7'x7' windows will capture heat from the winter sun but will be shaded in the summer by roof overhangs and pergola.
