Simply Cats is Boise, Idaho's no-kill, cageless feline adoption center. Simply Cats got its start (with just six cats!) as Just Strays Animal Foundation, Inc., in a one room office in 1986. Thanks to a very dedicated group of people, the shelter grew and moved into a larger building. In 2006, the name of the organization was changed to Simply Cats A

Will you join our Relay for Rescue team? We need at least 12 more people to register! Don’t worry — there’s absolutely no running involved.

This fun event is primarily a team-based scavenger hunt and bar crawl through local venues in downtown Boise. We'll be competing against other rescue organizations to earn points toward the cash grand prize, but we need more people to sign up for the Simply Cats team so we can qualify for a chance to win.

And guess what? Every person who registers on a Friday will automatically earn our team an extra 5 points!

Along with the scavenger hunt, a few participants will also take part in silly challenges while walking between venues, such as balloon hop, locked elbows, newspaper press, and more. The team with the most points at the end wins the grand prize!

Here’s what you need to know:
📅 Saturday, August 1 from 2–6 PM
📍 Starts at The Warehouse Food Hall
🐱 Registration is $40 and includes a team t-shirt
✨ 30% of every registration comes right back to Simply Cats

At the end of the competition, everyone will also have the opportunity to enter amazing raffles and bid on silent auction items, with all proceeds supporting animals in need.

So grab your friends, coworkers, and fellow cat lovers (21+ only), and let’s show Boise what Simply Cats is all about!

Please join us in thanking and congratulating our Foster and Volunteer of the Month, Sarah and Kameron! 🎉

Some foster cases are harder than others. This past month, Sarah took on a fragile, very sick kitten who needed around-the-clock care, frequent check-ins, and more than a few late-night visits to the shelter. She gave him everything: her time, her sleep, and her whole heart. She learned new skills to care for him without a moment of hesitation, even knowing how uncertain the road ahead was.

This is a side of foster care that doesn't get talked about enough. Not every animal that comes into a shelter will make it, but every single one deserves to be loved, and the most fragile ones need that love in a home, not a shelter. The outcome wasn't what any of us hoped for. But the grace, dedication, and warmth Sarah brought to an incredibly difficult situation is something our team won't forget.

Kameron is a familiar face on Saturday mornings at the shelter. He's a dedicated part of our Shelter Care team, but when the work there is caught up, you'll find him pitching in with room cleaning, something he proactively signed up for after asking if there was anything more he could do to help. That kind of initiative says a lot about who he is.

Easygoing and genuinely caring, Kameron always makes time to stop and visit and love on the cats before heading home. That's our kind of volunteer. With 85 hours of volunteer service, his consistency, warmth, and willingness to tackle any task make him a joy to have on our team. The cats are lucky to have him in their corner. And so are we.

June is Adopt-a-Cat Month! 😻 Every year during "kitten season," shelters and rescues become overwhelmed with cats and kittens in need of loving homes. While tiny kittens often steal the spotlight, older cats are waiting too.

The best part? Older cats are:
✨ Less likely to climb your curtains
✨ Have fully developed personalities, making it easier to find the purrfect match
✨ Just as affectionate and have immense amounts of love to give

When you adopt, you're not just changing one life — you're opening up space for another cat in need.

Swipe through their photos to learn more about each of them! To view the rest of our adoptable cats, click the link in our comments.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Specifically, adoption room cleaning volunteers. Lately, we have been receiving fewer sign-ups from existing volunteers for these daily shifts from 9 AM to 11 AM.

Room Cleaning Volunteers help ensure our adoption rooms are clean and ready before business hours begin. Adoption rooms are cleaned, disinfected, and tidied each morning to help keep our cats healthy and happy.

Tasks may include sweeping, mopping, scooping litter boxes, disinfecting surfaces, refilling water bowls, restocking cleaning supplies, washing empty dry food bowls, etc.

Volunteers are the backbone of our mission and the heart of our organization. If you're able, please consider donating your time to help our cats and kittens as they wait for their forever homes.

📍Simply Cats is located at 2833 S Victory View Way, Boise, ID 83709.

Adam is June’s Everyone Needs a Home sponsored cat! Thanks to Julie Cendejas Realty Group, his adoption fee is fully covered this month, meaning you can adopt this sweet boy at no cost.

Adam is what you might call a "purr bucket." Once he gets to know you, he just wants to be close… rubbing against you, soaking up attention, and returning it with lots of love (and yes... a little drool, too). He absolutely loves pets, especially chin scratches, and will often start purring almost immediately when you give him affection.

He doesn't start out as the most confident guy, but it doesn't take him long to warm up. Give him a little time to figure you out, and once he knows you're good people, he won't want to leave your side. Adam is affectionate, loyal, and happiest when he's with someone who wants to love him as much as he wants to love them.

Adam can be skittish when it comes to loud noises or fast movements and will retreat to a safe space until he feels comfortable again. When he's not napping or getting love, you can often find him batting a toy mouse or ball across the floor.

Before coming to Simply Cats, Adam showed up at someone's property looking for help. They cared for him and tried to find him a home, but with so many other cats to look after, they knew he deserved a better chance. That's how he ended up here, waiting for someone who will see him and know he's theirs.

With slow and proper introductions, Adam can do fine sharing a home with other cats. It is unknown how he would do with dogs, but he could do well with calm, respectful dogs given proper introductions.

Kittens, kittens, and more kittens! If you're looking for endless entertainment, love, and excitement every day, this is your sign to adopt a kitten or two.

And while one kitten can certainly bring plenty of joy, two kittens are even better! Kittens are playful, social creatures that always need something to do. Since they learn from other cats, a single kitten may develop habits like biting or playing too rough with their humans when they don't have a feline friend to help teach appropriate boundaries and social skills.

That's why we advocate for kittens to be adopted in pairs or into homes with a compatible, playful young cat. Having a feline companion provides a built-in playmate, helps them burn off energy, and supports healthy social development.

If you're looking to add a kitten to your family, why not adopt two? Plus, you'll get double the love, double the fun, and double the cuddles!
