my dad is in the hospital with acute necrotizing pancreatitis all from a “gallstone.” He has been at St Luke’s for 6 days now. To say how complicated all this is has been overwhelming. Everyday has been a multitude of tests & scans. This has caused an ileus so he has a NG tube down his throat. His blood sugar is high & hasn’t eaten since he got here, just lots of ice chips. He will get a feeding tube today to give him nutrition. Now we wait to see how he does. We don’t know how long he will be here but the guesstimate as of today is at least 1-2 more weeks. Once all this has calmed down he will have his gallbladder taken out. hes a fighter and doing all he can through the pain. prayers are needed. thank you

with my dad having a nucleotide melanoma scare, I knew my annual appointment was upcoming. a spot on my upper lip that I just thought was a dry patch (with enhanced reddening when having a glass of w**e) ended up being a pre cancerous spot!! I would have never known!

Long post warning and if you want to skip the details just know my dad is good and heading home from the hospital today. When he gets home, he will be focused on rest as he's had none this weekend. Thank you prayer warriors!
On Thursday my dad's apple watch gave him a warning that his heart rate had dropped below 40 for over 10 minutes. He felt nothing. wore the watch to bed, nothing. that morning however it happened again heart rate below 40 over 10 minutes. He had a doctor's appointment that day, which went south quickly. The doctor confirmed with a cardiologist that he need a pace maker stat. They transfered him to downtown st. lukes. Overnight the nurse said he kept a low heart rate of 30, with 1st, 2nd, and 3 degree blocks. Had he not mention his ECG from his watch and the alerts, this would not have been caught. HE DID NOT FEEL ANY SYMPTOMS!!!! At some point he would have passed out and may not have came out of it. They installed a pacemaker saturday morning. Surgery went great and we are thankful to the St. Luke's staff and specialists. We are also thankful to Apple without technology my dad may not be here today. I recommend everyone, GET A WATCH and set up your ECG! They also have fall detection and sleep apnea, etc. which is also very valuable.
