Solid Tango Archives — moments from the journey.

This was a joint event we put on with our friends at Heirloom Dance Studio back in 2018.

We thought it would be rad to put on a hybrid event showcasing the two preeminent 1940's dances: Argentine Tango and Lindy Hop. In some ways, the dances couldn't be more different -
tango is smooth, elegant, and intimate, while Lindy Hop is energetic, playful, and exuberant. But I consider them two sides to the same coin. Both are contemporaries of each other and influenced each other, both have that vintage flair, and in my book they're the two most difficult of the popular social dances.

The event was a blast. It was fun seeing the tango dancers try out Lindy Hop and the lindy hoppers try out tango. We held a social dance with 50/50 of the music styles, and everybody got to interact and dance with each other. I feel like all of the attendees left with a better appreciation and understanding of their sister dance.
