Okay… I MADE BREAD. 😂🥖

After the last two months of Doughlene doing absolutely whatever the heck she wanted, and then bringing Earl into the picture about a week and a half ago… we finally have a loaf!

And honestly? I’m freaking excited about it.

Is it perfect? Nope. 😂 We definitely have some adjustments to make for the next one, but considering this is my first ever sourdough loaf, I am SO happy with how it turned out.

Like… I made this.
With flour.
And water.
And a starter I have spent entirely too much time trying to learn. 😂

There’s something so satisfying about pulling something out of the oven and realizing you actually made the thing.

So, here’s to loaf #1 — not perfect, but absolutely something I’m proud of.

Apparently I am baking bread now. 🤷‍♀️🖤

BEHIND THE MOONLIGHT - Entry 011

A Sourdough Love Story

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Madi who decided she wanted to learn how to make sourdough.

And so, Doughlene entered her life.

For nearly two months, Madi fed her, cared for her, watched her bubbles, celebrated her tiny victories, and patiently waited for her to become the bread-making queen she was promised to be.

Doughlene, however, had other plans.

She was slow.
She was dramatic.
She needed time.
Apparently, she was “not ready.” 🙄

So after nearly two months of this situationship, Madi did what any reasonable woman would do…

She brought another starter home.

Enter Earl.

Earl had confidence. Earl had experience. Earl had absolutely no business showing up and immediately stealing Doughlene’s spotlight.

And yet… here we are. 😂

A week and a half later, Earl has officially earned himself a date with the oven while Doughlene is standing in the corner like:

“Oh, NOW you want bread? Fine. Watch this.”

So today’s shenanigans involved flour, dough, questionable decisions, and two sourdough starters fighting for custody of my kitchen.

And somehow, I’m still the one who signed up for this. 😂🥖

Okay, I need you guys to make a decision for me. 😂

If I had an afternoon to make something just because I wanted to… what should I make?

A, B, C, or D?

And if you have a better idea, obviously I want to hear that too. 😂

Okay, I’m curious. 😂

Forget what you think I normally make for a second.

If you could hand me any idea at all and say, “Can you make this?” — what would it be?

It can be practical.
It can be ridiculous.
It can be something you’ve seen on Pinterest and thought, “I have no idea where I’d even get that.”

I want to hear it. 👀

And who knows… maybe you’ll accidentally give me my next project idea. 😂

🌙 BEHIND THE MOONLIGHT - Entry 010

Apparently, I needed to schedule my own life. 😂 The chaos was getting to me.

Between Moonlight Ink Co, the household, Trace, the animals, errands, appointments, and approximately 700 things that somehow become my responsibility every week… I realized I needed a little more structure. Or a lot more structure.

So I made myself a weekly guideline.

Not a rigid schedule. Not a “if I don’t accomplish everything on this list, I’ve failed” kind of thing.

Just a little reminder of what matters, what needs to happen, and where I want my time to go.

There are business time blocks.
There are household chore time blocks.
There are extra kid days.
There are family days.
There are evenings that are actually supposed to be relaxing. 😂 But, we’ll see if they are!

And there’s even a spot reminding me to feed the sourdough starters, because apparently Doughlene and her newest flour roommate, Earl, are now part of the household routine.

I’m trying to be a little more intentional with my time instead of constantly feeling like I’m reacting to whatever is yelling the loudest in the moment.

So here’s to finding a rhythm that works for real life — messy, imperfect, and occasionally covered in sourdough. Bear with me while I adjust and settle into my new guidelines. Hopefully this will be helpful for us all!

Every bag will be put together after you order, so I’m not making a pile of random things hoping someone wants them. Your bag gets created around your price + vibe using the fun stuff currently happening behind the Moonlight.

Which means… every bag will be different.

After that, the Moon goes dark and this round of Mystery Bags is closed. 😂

Today’s office setup looks a little something like this:

💻 Website overhaul
📺 Ms. Rachel keeping the tiny human entertained
🌈 Loaded tea keeping me fueled
🐈 Ember, apparently, being promoted to Creative Director

She has very strong opinions about the redesign and absolutely no concept of personal space. 😂

Just a normal day around here — a little work, a little chaos, a loaded tea, and at least one tiny coworker who insists on being involved in everything.

Website overhaul: in progress.
Kitty supervision: unfortunately mandatory. 😅

🏁 Trace’s T is officially finished!

This one was a little extra special because I got to make it for my own little guy. ❤️

I had so much fun bringing his race car theme to life with the checkerboard, bold red, and all the little racing details. I think it turned out exactly how I pictured it!

Now I just need to find the perfect spot for it in his room. 🥹🏁

Another Keepsake officially added to the collection. ❤️

🏁 A little behind the scenes of Trace’s T!

Starting with a few simple materials and turning them into something completely custom is honestly one of my favorite parts of making these.

Checkerboard paper, textured red paper, a little race car, and a few extra details came together to make this one fit Trace’s race car-loving personality. ❤️
