This isnt officially public but I bought one of those 360 cameras and recorded our show at Harley a few weeks ago. This is one of my fav songs we do because well, it has a cool keyboard part :)

So I posted yesterday about how difficult at times it is to be a synth player. About the same time, my flagship keyboard I've used for years decided to have a critical failure whether it was caused by a power issue or just component failure is unknown but the reality is, these keyboards are extremely expensive and as an amateur musician, we do not make enough income to be able to replace these and to top things off, due to the age of the machine, they're almost always impossible to repair due to their age and parts not being available. I'm going to try and see what I can do since we really dont know whats wrong with it but of course, this week we have Ride for 22 which is the bands biggest gig of the year. I have other keyboard (of course I do, haha) but when you spend hours programming one sound for each song on that particular machine, its a bit of a gut punch if something happens.
But like they say, the show must go on.

Being a keyboard/synth player is wild sometimes. When trying to "build" the sound into the keyboard you're using for that particular song, it seems like every time you hear the song, you hear something different in the tone, the sound, the pitch, etc. The reality of it is, you guys dont notice anything about the sounds I spend hours programming but to me, I find it important to get something that is at least close to the original. The songs in the 80s used technology that is hard to copy on newer machines This is why I have utmost respect to those guys and how creative they were with the process of coming up with the sounds they use.
So support your local musicians (especially us keyboard players) because we work hard so you dont have to :)

According to FB, I have 8 new views. Are you guys randomly checking to see that I've not posted anything in a long long really long time? I'm slowly getting there. Just needed to evolve the "studio" and have our son (who is always busy) help me with a few computer related things.

So I dont post as much as I thought I would. I had this all planned out, to post more, record more, play more, give myself more of what you would say an "online presence". I suppose its not time yet so mayeb I'll put a pause on this.
I was working on a recording today, figured it'd be a Bill version of a Christmas type song. From the start I started experiencing problem. The input gain into the interface was too loud but I was barely getting any output volume. I finally get that sorted, I start tracking and notice something off about the tracks. Turns out they're all of a sudden not syncing up, each track is off about a millisecond and I couldnt for the life of me figure out why? This is a newish machine dedicated for recording, everything hardware and software related, looked to be fine. The more I tried to "fix" it, the worse it got. Mind you, this process takes hours, so thank your fellow recording artists for their hard work because one three minute song can take hundred of hours to record.
I tend to strealine the process because i'm one person and I dont require a lot of fancy things because I'm not a professional recording artist. That said, I got angerly frustrated at what was happening, scrapped what I was doing and walked away.
Being a musician sucks sometimes and thats just the way it is. Things dont always work out the way you planned it so I suppose my calling is being a piano player in a small church in Meridian Idaho which I feel I'm good at.
Everything else is just noise.
Maybe I'll try again tomorrow...or maybe I wont.

Most of you know but for those who dont, besides occasionally playing in a band, I play piano at a local church in Meridian. I dont share much from there because livestream audio doesnt always play nice when uploaded but in this case, I was able to get the individual audio tracks, doctor them up a bit and our media guy uploaded the audio to the original video (edited) and reposted. I thought it turned out pretty okay. There are plans to re-record this at home with Georgie and I. This is Steph, shes the pastors wife.
