Hard to believe it's already been 5 years, I would say the barn we built has aged well. Some great patina already. Need to get back to building these again. Think they would be a hit here in Texas.

First time sunlight has hit these logs in a long time
Every item we build at Rustic Creek has a story behind it. At some point or time families settled down and raised their children in the homes our lumber comes from. Farmers built these barns to keep their livestock, hay and other investments/livelihood safe. All of our lumber comes from reclaimed structures with a History and all of them have a STORY, that we strive to understand from the families that lived it, the descendants of those that did, the research of local records and talking to locals so we can carry the legacy forward. We don't build with palletwood and we despise this new pulpwood from the big box stores. Most of our wood is at least 100 yrs old and if you consider when it was originally cut it could be upwards of 200-300 yrs ago when it first started growing. So what you see and get isnt some faux stain / paint job. It is years and years of dirt, weather, and friction to give it the character it has. You can't recreate that no matter how much you try. Each board more than likely was cut by hand without power tools.

Hiding in plain sight. A late 1700s log cabin 16x20 with mid 1800s stick built farmhand / slave quarters. Family cemetery close by patriarch and matriarch grave are early 1800s. Slave graves right next to the family so they meant alot to them. Will be numbering and dismantling soon. Looking for a buyer so that it can live on. Will need to be reconfigured to 14x16 due to some termite damage on some logs.
