As the nonprofit arm of the 4ocean brand, 4ocean Foundation powers large-scale cleanups worldwide, removing plastic from the ocean, restoring rivers and coastlines, and protecting marine life for generations to come. 4ocean Foundation is dedicated to ending plastic pollution by cleaning our ocean, rivers, and coastlines, tackling the growing threat of microplastics, and empowering communities through education and awareness. 4ocean Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We ensure that all contributions are 100% tax-deductible in the U.S. and select countires, directly funding our mission to clean and preserve the marine environment. Our Foundation focuses exclusively on partnering with local captains and crews to clean plastic and trash from our ocean and creating educational campaigns that expand awareness.
4ocean Foundation was established as a separate entity from the 4ocean Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), our for-profit counterpart. This strategic move was made to expand our impact on ocean conservation by accessing diverse streams of capital and philanthropy. Why We Clean:
Our lives are deeply connected to the ocean, it is one of the most vital ecosystems on Earth. Covering more than 70% of the planet’s surface, the ocean generates a significant portion of the oxygen we breathe and sustains countless forms of life. It's where we work, unwind, connect with nature, and feel truly alive. Plastic pollution is a dual threat. Existing plastic is a significant threat to marine life and ecosystems however, when plastic photodegrades (breaks down) one plastic water bottle can turn into millions of pieces of microplastic. Microplastic pollution is exponentially threatening the health of every living being on our planet. Seeing our ocean, rivers, and coastlines polluted with plastic, wildlife struggling to survive, and communities losing their livelihoods - that’s what fuels our mission. This International Coastal Cleanup Day, take impact into your own hands.
No matter where litter starts out, it usually finds its way to the ocean through storm drains, rivers, and streams. The shoreline is one of the last checkpoints before trash disappears into the sea, and once it's in the water, it becomes much more difficult to recover. From there, it can travel hundreds of miles, harming marine life and ecosystems far from where it started.
The good news? Every piece of litter removed is one less piece that makes that journey.
Today, take a moment to look after the places around you. Grab a bag, bring a friend, and clean up a beach, a park, a street, or even your own backyard.

The crew at Baluk River went beyond simply cleaning this river - they worked to bring it back to life.
Students from 3rd Baluk High School joined the Jembrana River Boom team, removing all kinds of waste along the riverbanks. Wading through organic debris, everyone worked together to clear the river of trash and plastic.
Once the cleanup was complete, they took things a step further, releasing fish into the river to help support new life. This is why the work matters so much: it's not just about clearing waterways, it's about helping them return to their natural, thriving state.

Prapat Agung Beach in Bali suffered in silence until this crew showed up.
What was once a shoreline buried under debris is now a place with its natural beauty restored. And here, that transformation means more than a cleaner beach.
Prapat Agung sits within the West Bali National Park landscape, home to nearly 160 protected animal and plant species and coastal ecosystems that support local fisheries and communities.
Plastic left behind can move back into the ocean, enter sensitive habitats, and break down into microplastics. Removing it helps protect the larger ecosystem connected to this shoreline.
That transformation is the mission. Steady, dedicated work can restore places like this and protect what depends on them.

On August 14th, the Jembrana team carried out another beach cleanup, but this one had a much greater impact than usual.
Joined by local students, the crew went beyond their typical duties. As they worked, the team educated the students on the importance of proper waste disposal and avoiding single use plastics, while inviting them to take part in the cleanup itself.
Through this hands-on experience, picking up piece after piece of waste, the students came to understand the weight of their choices. Every item improperly discarded adds to what the crew must later collect, a clear reminder that pollution doesn't simply disappear once it's out of sight.
Days like this are a testament to the power of community education. By turning a routine cleanup into a lesson in responsibility, these teams are helping to raise a generation that treats the coastline not as someone else's problem, but as their own to protect.

Coastlines serve as the last barrier before waste enters the ocean, and this crew reached Kedungu Beach right on time. Plastic water bottles and other single use plastics were scattered along the shoreline and wedged between rocks, so the crew spread out across the beach to collect as much waste as possible. Beyond the beach, they also relieved a nearby canal that connects to this area.
Beaches should be filled with wildlife, not overwhelmed with inorganic debris. That's where the 4ocean Foundation crew comes in, giving this place a new future and keeping trash from ending up in the ocean.

Before, the Pergung River was overwhelmed with waste, trash wedged between rocks, tangled along the muddy banks, and floating across the surface. What should have been a thriving ecosystem had become a dumping ground.
After hours of work, the river started to run clearer, free to flow into the ocean without causing any harm. This transformation is a visual testament to the importance of this work that fights against plastic pollution.

Along the Pergung River, waste had piled up thick among the rocks and riverbanks.
As the trash accumulated, it disrupted the river's natural flow and threatened the wildlife that calls this area home. The crew got to work, clearing plastic and debris from the water's surface, the muddy banks, and the gaps between rocks.

In August, foundation crews removed 528,324 pounds of trash from Bali's rivers, coastlines, and ocean. That’s hundreds of thousands of pounds kept from entering our waters and threatening marine life and ecosystems. Across 903 cleanups, that adds up to the equivalent of 25.4 million plastic water bottles removed.
Beyond the cleanups themselves, the crew's work made a real impact on local communities. During multiple cleanups throughout August, local schoolchildren watched the teams at work and saw firsthand why this effort matters. Educating students on the importance of proper waste management helps to spread awareness for ocean protection.
To date, 4ocean Foundation has removed 7,396,689 pounds of trash and plastic from our natural world, and that is all thanks to every member of our community. We are so grateful for every donor and ocean lover who has supported and fueled this work to protect our blue planet for generations to come.
A cleaner river isn't just one day’s work, it's a promise for the future.
