Plastic toothbrushes don't break down, they sit in landfills typically outliving whoever used them. Over time, they break apart into microplastics, small pieces of plastic that stick around for centuries and bring harm to wildlife.

Fortunately, the fix is simpler than you'd think. Bamboo handles, compostable bristles, and biodegradable options now make it easy to brush your teeth without leaving a permanent mark on the planet.

One plastic bottle might not seem like much, but multiply that by 8 billion people across the world, and it quickly adds up. Used and finished within a day, the plastic shell it leaves behind lives on for years, often ending up in the environment. Over time, it breaks down into microplastics that contaminate our soil, water, and even the food we eat.

Luckily, there's an easy swap to cut down on plastic bottle use. This Plastic Free July, choose to bring your reusable cup or bottle with you instead of reaching for plastic.

Every one of us has a choice to make, and yours can make a real difference. One person, one choice, adds up to a cleaner, healthier planet.

June was World Ocean Month, and 4ocean Foundation crews across Bali didn't just mark the occasion, they showed up for it. Last month, the teams completed 844 cleanups and pulled 468,889 pounds of trash out of rivers, coastlines, and the ocean. That's the equivalent of roughly 22.5 million plastic water bottles recovered in just 30 days.

Since launching in 2025, that same relentless commitment has brought the total to 6,337,263 pounds of waste pulled from Bali's waters and shores alone. Every one of those pounds represents a crew member who stepped in, got their hands dirty, and chose not to look away.

World Ocean Month is a global reminder of the importance of a healthy ocean, but for us, every month is ocean month. The booms are stretched across the rivers, the crews are already in the field, and the work doesn't pause when the calendar turns.

Straws continue to be one of the main items our crew collects during cleanups, month after month. These small, lightweight pieces of plastic are easy to overlook, but they add up fast, littering our beaches, waterways, and ocean.

Straws break down into smaller fragments and microplastics, making them especially difficult to fully remove from the environment and pose a serious risk to wildlife, who often mistake them for food.

The good news is that straws are one of the easiest single-use plastics to cut out of our daily routines. This month, we're asking our community to take action by making simple, sustainable swaps that reduce plastic waste at the source. Get started by skipping the straw when ordering a drink, choose reusable over disposable, and inspire others to do the same!

Every swap, no matter how small, adds up. By reducing the amount of single-use plastic we rely on, we can help keep straws, and other plastic debris, out of our ocean for good.
