What do you see when you look at a piece of cardboard, broken, crayon, or scrap a paper?
Students at Verde K-8 saw art! 🎨
These students took materials that would’ve otherwise been thrown away, for example cardboard, broken crayons, scrap paper, paper towel, tubes, magazine, pages, packaging, and more, and turned them into something entirely new!
This is what happens when we give students the opportunity to look at trash differently. Something destined for the garbage can become something beautiful imaginative, and meaningful.
We’re not just keeping materials out of the trash, we’re showing students that creativity can be part of caring for our planet.
These young artists from Verde K-8 are proud to participate in CNN call to Earth Day. CNN we hope you’ll take a look at what these students created and help us share this idea, and the incredible art these students created, with others who might be inspired to do the same!

We are so grateful to the Golden Bell Education Foundation for awarding Verde K-8 over $10,000 in grants to support supplemental instructional resources for our students! đź“š
These funds will go directly toward enhancing learning opportunities in our classrooms and providing our teachers with additional resources to help our Vikings learn, grow and succeed.

WE ARE GOLD! 🏆
Huge congratulations to our Vikings! Verde K-8 has once again been recognized as a Florida PBIS Gold Model School for 2025–2026! 🌟
A big thank you to our entire staff for the hard work, care, and energy you put in every single day to create a positive, safe, and supportive environment where our students can thrive. We want to give a shoutout and thank you to Mrs. Dorvilus, our Internal Coach, and our dedicated PBIS team for leading our efforts throughout the year.
Sometimes creativity is about using what you already have and seeing what it can become. ♻️🎨
We don’t always look at everyday materials and see art, but that’s exactly what middle schoolers at Verde K-8 were challenged to do.
For our Studio Marathon Project, students were given permission to stop worrying about making “perfect” art. With limited and repurposed materials, creative prompts, and just 5–7 minutes at a time, they created quickly, took risks, made mistakes, experimented, and kept going.
Then came the challenge: look back at those little experiments and see what they could become.
Students used their quick creations as inspiration for something entirely new—transforming scraps, discarded materials, and unexpected pieces into finished works of art.
The results are now hanging in our Studio Marathon Project Gallery, and together they show what can happen when we stop overthinking, start creating, and realize that something doesn’t have to be new to have value. 💚
Sometimes what looks like trash is really just art waiting for a second chance.

’Twas the night before the first day of school…
After a week of planning, preparing, collaborating and getting excited, our teachers and staff are ready to welcome our Vikings back to Verde! ✨
The classrooms are ready. The teachers are ready. The halls are ready. And tomorrow, YOU will make our campus complete!
Please remember that school begins at 8:00AM, and the courtyard will open for students at 7:15AM.
