At 76, Pedro Lopez stays busy golfing several times a week, spending time with his family and keeping up with his favorite team, the New York Yankees. When a routine screening led to a prostate cancer diagnosis, he had no symptoms and never expected what would come next.
Because Pedro’s cancer was localized to a specific area of the prostate, his care team was able to treat it using HIFU, or High Intensity Focused Ultrasound, a focal therapy that uses concentrated ultrasound energy to target cancerous tissue while helping preserve surrounding healthy tissue.
Pedro became the first patient to undergo PSMA fusion-guided HIFU for prostate cancer, combining advanced imaging and AI to help guide his treatment with precision.
Today, Pedro is back to the life he loves, and sharing his story with one message for other men: don’t put off your screening.
