🎹 POV: you finally return to the thing you avoided...

Three years.

And apparently my hands remembered before the rest of me did.

There are things you avoid because you can’t do them.

And then there are things you avoid because you know exactly what they’ll make you feel when you do. 🤍

This was the second one.

I knew the notes.

I knew where my hands belonged.

I even knew which part of the page I’d look at before the first note.

But knowing something + being ready to return to it are very different things.

So I sat there a little longer than necessary.

Then played.

And somewhere between the first bar + the fourth, the thing I’d been avoiding stopped feeling like something I needed to protect myself from.

It just felt like mine again.

🎹 What’s something you’ve avoided returning to because you knew exactly what it would make you feel?

🎹 You can hear when a piano finds its room.

Which sounded beautifully poetic until I learned it’s also literally true. 😂🤍

Humidity.

Temperature.

The acoustics of the space.

Apparently bringing a grand piano home is less “put her there, she looks perfect” and more introducing a very expensive new family member to the climate. 😂

And I love learning details like this.

The things happening behind something beautiful that most people never think to ask about.

Because suddenly you’re not just looking at the piano.

You understand her differently.

And there’s something about watching someone who has spent years mastering a craft make microscopic adjustments with complete confidence.

Listen.

Adjust.

Listen again.

Until something most of us wouldn’t know how to fix simply settles.

It reminded me how often we confuse access to a tool with understanding what makes the result exceptional.

And just like this piano finding its room, the goal isn’t sameness.

It’s alignment.

Everything settling into the world it was actually built to belong inside.
