Infielders start taking your catch play seriously. If you can’t play catch during catch play I guarantee you will struggle making throws in games. Playing catch is actually one of the tell tale signs for me to see if an infielder is good. I can see how the body moves, the feet, the glove, the arm action. And simply I’m seeing if you can your partner in the chest or head area consistently. Infielders out there start taking your catch play seriously and I guarantee you will have less throwing errors and fielding errors.

Infielders, we’ve let you down as coaches and as parents.

No kid should reach high school without knowing how to find a 4 seam grip on the transfer. A 4 seam throw carries straight and true. Anything else tails, sinks, and turns routine plays into errors.

That’s on us, not them. Fundamentals have to be taught at the youngest ages, because baseball IQ is built one habit at a time.
