Sigma Delta Pi - Rho Omicron: Florida Atlantic University chapter of the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society ΣΔΠ. Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, is a non-profit organization incorporated in the State of South Carolina, a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and partners with the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese and the North American Academy of the Spanish Language. www.sigmadeltapi.org
Mission
The purpose of this organization shall be: (1) to honor those who attain excellence in the Spanish language and in the study of the literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking peoples, (2) to honor those who have made Hispanic contributions to modern culture better known in the English-speaking world, (3) to encourage college and university students to acquire a greater interest in and a deeper understanding of Hispanic culture, (4) to foster friendly relations and mutual respect between the nations of Hispanic speech and English speech, and (5) to serve its membership in ways which will contribute to the attainment of the goals and ideas of the society.

Eligibility:
To be an eligible member, the student is required: (1) to have a minimum GPA of 3.2 in all Spanish courses and a minimum overall GPA of 3.2; and (2) to have completed three years of study of college-level Spanish (18 semester credit hours) or the equivalent, including one course in Hispanic civilization (SPN 3500 or SPN 3501), or Hispanic literature (SPW 3030). Graduate students must have completed two graduate courses in Spanish.
