Check out recent updates to our Motus Therapeutic Methods website including new information on ARP Neuro Therapy. The website provides evidence-informed continuing education in a wholistic approach to myofascial therapy emphasizing the importance a global view in maintaining a healthy musculoskeletal system to foster whole health & wellness.

I have had the recent privilege of investigating and evaluating ARP Neuro Therapy, an innovative approach to treating the myofascial system with a through a dynamic neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) protocol. I first became interested in ARP Neuro therapy after observing first-hand the dramatic improvement in patient outcomes in musculoskeletal injuries that are typically difficult to treat and sustain long-term relief. The improved outcomes, increased functional capacity, and long-term relief may stem from the unique ability of ARP Neuro to address the arthrogenic muscle inhibition that commonly occurs from injuries to joints. Interrater Agreement of Manual Palpation for Identification of Myofascial Trigger Points: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis - PubMed 02/22/2023

Identification of trigger points through palpating alone has been shown to be unreliable with poor inter-rater reliability - use of functional assessments of fascia may prove more reliable.

We will be exploring functional assessment of fascia in our upcoming course on March 11, 2023 in St. Peter’s Missouri.

Interrater Agreement of Manual Palpation for Identification of Myofascial Trigger Points: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis - PubMed Use of manual palpation for identification of MTrPs is unreliable, and future investigation should focus on integration with more reliable techniques.

NEW LIVE COURSE! MARCH 11,2023 MID-RIVERS CLINIC ST. PETERS, MO
An intensive eight-hour hands-on course that correlates common myofascial pattern findings to targeted myofascial therapy and kinesiology taping methods. This course is directed to physical medicine practitioners to incorporate fascial pattern findings to determine effective myofascial therapeutic interventions and establish kinesiology taping methods to address local symptoms as well as the root biomechanical causes.

At the completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

Describe the relevant anatomy associated with common myofascial patterns.

Understand the basic science principles of the effect of mechanoreceptors and their action on the myofascial system.

Describe the common myofascial pattern objective clinical findings of upper, middle, and lower cross.

Understand the effect of common myofascial patterns the core and distal biomechanical changes of the upper and lower extremities.

Understand the expected changes in myofascial pattern objective clinical findings post kinesiology taping.

The Lancet | Seminar | Sarcopenia

Sarcopenia is a progressive and generalised skeletal muscle disorder involving the accelerated loss of muscle mass and function that is associated with increased adverse outcomes including falls, functional decline, frailty, and mortality. It occurs commonly as an age-related process in older people, influenced not only by contemporaneous risk factors, but also by genetic and lifestyle factors operating across the life course. It can also occur in mid-life in association with a range of conditions. Sarcopenia has become the focus of intense research aiming to translate current knowledge about its pathophysiology into improved diagnosis and treatment, with particular interest in the development of biomarkers, nutritional interventions, and drugs to augment the beneficial effects of resistance exercise. Designing effective preventive strategies that people can apply during their lifetime is of primary concern. Diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of sarcopenia is likely to become part of routine clinical practice. Read new Seminar: https://hubs.ly/H0j9dv00
