Settlement Win Wednesday, and this one started with what was initially a $2,100 offer from State Farm.

We ultimately resolved it for $80,000.

Our client was injured after another driver lost control in a construction zone, struck a barrier and crashed into his trailer. The trailer had minimal damage, but our client had very real injuries.
That distinction mattered.

When I review a case, I want to understand what actually happened to the person. I’m looking at the injuries, the treatment and how their life has been affected. I’m not going to let a photo of a vehicle make that decision for me.

Carpools, grandparents, playdates, teammates. Eventually, your child is going to ride in someone else’s car.

Before mine do, there are a few things I want to know.

What are they riding in? Is it a car seat, booster seat, or seat belt?

If a car seat or booster is moving between cars, has someone taken another look at the setup?

Does the person driving know how my child needs to be buckled in?

These are small questions, but they’re part of the handoff I think about as both an attorney and a mom.
