Friendship House of Boca Raton

Last night, our Young Adult Club went Around Town, bringing together 24 young adults with special needs for dinner at Kosher Chobee.

An incredible night and great food!

Thank you to our volunteers, Aviad Ballaish and the Kosher Chobee Boca team, Chabad of West Boca Raton for their continued support of YAC, and Jewish Boca for helping make this program possible.

As young adults with special needs get older, opportunities to socialize and simply spend time with friends can become harder to find. That’s a big part of why Y.A.C exists.

As we approach Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, I’ve been thinking about one of its simple but powerful messages.

Rosh Hashanah marks the creation of mankind. It reminds us of this simple historical truth: humanity began with one person, Adam.

This special day teaches us that underneath it all, despite our differences, we are not truly separate. G-d created mankind beginning with one individual, reminding us that we come from one shared source and carry one shared purpose: to bring goodness and kindness into the world.

That message is at the heart of what we do at Friendship House. Too often, children and individuals with special needs are left on the sidelines of community life. At Friendship House, we want them to have a place where they are seen, included and able to interact with friends and simply feel part of the coommunity around them.

While our differences may be what first meets the eye, we look beyond them to see the beauty in every individual and what each person brings. Together, we create a shared community rooted in a shared purpose: to bring goodness and kindness into the world each in our own beautiful way.

One moment of connection matters. One act of kindness matters. One person choosing to show up for another can be life changing.

We kicked off our brand-new Equine Connection program at the Delray Equestrian Center LLC, a morning of horses, connection, confidence, and some really special moments.
