SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Prayer to The Sacred Heart

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, source of all goodness and healing, you have loved me from all eternity. Now I ask for the grace to love you in return. Please increase within me your gifts of faith, hope and love. I offer you my heart, wounded by sin, crippled by unkindness; but not beyond your power to make me whole again. Jesus I ask that you continue to touch me, calm me, and heal me. Teach me to be gentle and humble of heart, to be patient and loving.
In you, I love and move and have being. In you, I am healed. Keep me close to you and the life and wholeness that you bring. When I stray, give me the grace to accept your invitation to return to you. Glory to you, O most Sacred Heart; glory and praise and thanksgiving today and every day. Amen.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in you. (say 3 times)

The Twelve Promises of the Sacred Heart
As given by Our Lord to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque

Jesus reveals the tenderness of His Heart and the 12 promises He pledged to those who love Him and honor His Sacred Heart. If you’ve ever thought, “God couldn’t possibly love me, I haven’t earned it,” that’s Jansenist thinking. The plain truth is – God loves us no matter what! Jesus said to St. Margaret Mary: “Announce it and let it be announced to the whole world, that I set neither limit nor measure to My gifts for those who seek them in My Heart.”

1st Promise I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life.

2nd Promise I will establish peace in their families.

3rd Promise I will comfort them in their trials.

4th Promise I will be their secure refuge during life and, above all, in death.

5th Promise I will shed abundant blessings on all their undertakings.

6th Promise Sinners will find in My Heart an infinite ocean of mercy.

7th Promise Lukewarm souls will become fervent.

8th Promise Fervent souls will rapidly grow in holiness and perfection.

9th Promise I will bless every place where an image of My Heart shall be exposed and honored.

10th Promise I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.

11th Promise The names of those who promote this devotion will be written in My Heart, never to be blotted out.

12th Promise I promise thee to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Friday of nine consecutive months, the grace of final penitence…

In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on at 4 p.m. EST on Thursday, June 11.

To prepare for this occasion, the bishops will hear reflections on the Sacred Heart from several of their brother bishops before the special Mass of consecration, which will be livestreamed on the USCCB’s YouTube channel. The bishops’ livestream event is intended to be a catalyst to encourage parishes and individuals to participate in the America 250 commemoration by contributing to 250 Hours of Adoration and/or 250 Works of Mercy.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) will livestream the 2026 Spring Plenary Assembly in Orlando, Florida, June 10-12, which will include the consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The assembly will be livestreamed on the USCCB website.

The public portion of the assembly will begin with an address by Archbishop Paul S. Coakley of Oklahoma City, who will deliver his first remarks as president of the Conference. Archbishop Gabriele Giordano Caccia, the Papal Nuncio to the United States, is also expected to deliver an address to the body of bishops.

"Devotion to the Sacred Heart, like the more recent devotion to Divine Mercy, echoes the invitation that Jesus makes in the Gospels to those who are “weary and heavily burdened” because of sin and hurt to turn to him for mercy, healing and restoration. Indeed, devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and devotion to the Divine Mercy have one and the same message, namely, that humanity is good and is greatly loved by God, and God generously offers mercy to all."

The Carmelites of Australia and Timor-Leste congratulate Fr Eduardo Agosta Scarel, O.Carm, on his appointment as a Corresponding Member of the Pontifical Academy for Life by Pope Leo XIV.

https://carmelites.org.au/item/1705-carmelite-appointed-to-pontifical-academy

Fr Eduardo is Vice-President of the Carmelite NGO, Director of the Department of Integral Ecology at the Spanish Episcopal Conference, and an internationally respected researcher in climate variability and climate change. His appointment recognises not only his scientific expertise, but also his commitment to bringing faith, ethics, and care for human dignity into some of the most important conversations facing our world today.

Responding to the announcement, Fr Eduardo said:

“I accept this appointment with deep gratitude and a sense of responsibility, as a Carmelite friar. I accept this appointment as a call to serve through integral ecology and the Social Doctrine of the Church, bringing scientific rigor and ethical discernment to address the challenges affecting human life and our common home.”

His work reflects the vision expressed by Pope Francis in Laudato Si’ — that care for people and care for creation are inseparable. Through his research, teaching, and international advocacy, Fr Eduardo has helped build greater understanding of the relationship between climate change, social justice, and the wellbeing of vulnerable communities.

Looking ahead to his service with the Academy, Fr Eduardo said he hopes to encourage dialogue between science, theology, and public policy while contributing to initiatives that promote both sustainability and human dignity.

For the Carmelite family, Fr Eduardo's appointment is a reminder that the contemplative tradition of Carmel continues to engage actively with the challenges of the modern world. Rooted in prayer and guided by the Gospel, Carmelites seek to bring wisdom, compassion, and hope wherever human life and dignity are at stake.

We congratulate Fr Eduardo and assure him of our prayers as he begins this important service to the Church and the wider human family.
