Not everything is from God, and that is actually one of the most Jewish things I have ever heard.
This week I am getting ready for Shabbat with “Lo Hakol Min Alla” by Israeli rapper E-Z. He sings the Arabic word for God, Allah, inside a Hebrew song, because Elohim and Allah are the same God, just named in different languages.
There is an old teaching for this: lo bashamayim hi, it is not in heaven. God handed the work of this world to us. The repairing, the seeing each other as human, that part is ours.
Shabbat is the moment I come back to remember my piece of that partnership.

Most people have never heard of Elul.
Even many people who come to synagogue every year for the High Holy Days.
But Elul is one of Judaism's greatest gifts.
Jewish tradition teaches that during this month, "the King is in the field."

This week we study Parshat Eikev — a parsha that reminds us that a meaningful life is built through everyday choices. As Moses encourages the Israelites to remain faithful to the covenant, Eikev teaches that gratitude, humility, and consistent action are what sustain a relationship with God and with one another.
