Giving Back

Every summer at Camp Baco/Che-Na-Wah, the annual Bazaar is held during Family Camp Visiting Day Weekend to raise money for Project SCOPE—an incredible program that helps children who are less fortunate experience the magic of going to summer camp.

The auction is always energetic, with families enthusiastically bidding on a wide variety of items, all for a great cause.

Over the years, my custom-made DJ Jeff Yahney T-shirts, which I’ve proudly performed in at camps, have become some of the most sought-after auction items—and have sold for hundreds of dollars!

This summer was extra special.

These two amazing campers, through their families, each won the winning bid of $300 for one of my shirts! 🎉

What makes it even more meaningful is that these two girls have known me since they first started coming to Camp Che-Na-Wah at just 8 years old.

So this wasn’t just about two T-shirts.

It was about years of memories, friendships, camp traditions—and most importantly, helping other children have the opportunity to experience summer camp.

That’s what camp—and giving back—is all about. ❤️

Great songwriting possesses an immutable core. Long before it was elevated to unprecedented commercial heights in 1985, “The Greatest Love of All” existed as a masterfully constructed testament to the human spirit. Filmed in 1981 for an episode of Sesame Street, this rare archival footage captures a pristine moment of musical synergy. Singer George Benson stands alongside the song’s composer, Michael Masser, who provides a delicate, elegant accompaniment on a solitary acoustic piano. Originally composed in 1977 for the Muhammad Ali biopic The Greatest, the song’s profound lyrical depth was crafted by Linda Creed during a deeply personal battle with illness—lending an understated weight to every harmonic resolution. Stripped of the expansive synthesizers, driving percussion, and soaring climaxes that defined later interpretations, this performance highlights the pure craftsmanship of Masser’s writing. Benson’s delivery is a study in vocal control, relying on smooth jazz-inflected phrasing and conversational warmth rather than sheer volume.
