Babes Ducks Waterfowl Rescue
We are a 501(c)3 permitted through Missouri Department of Conservation and US Fish and Wildlife. Louis). Thank you for supporting us! š¦
We are the only waterfowl rehab in the KC metro (all the way to St.
So this happened today. š
Lakeside called and asked us to take a juvenile goose that is highly imprinted on humans. Of course we said yes. This baby didnāt stay long as we knew where he would be going before he even got to us. We had the perfect place for him! Their little sounds are so heartwarming though and we enjoyed him while he was here. He just followed Jen around the house while he was here. Every time she stopped he ran into her. He HAD to be touching her at all times. He is now at the perfect place with others his age and will quickly learn he is a goose; not a human. We will check in on him and retrieve him if we need to but he settled in immediately. He was very excited to be with his own kind and they were immediately accepting of him.
Thank you to everyone who reached out to us about the dumped babies at Loose Park. We were able to provide guidance to Kait (the poster) and she was able to get the babies to safety today! Huge shout out to our friends at Lakeside for taking them in for us for a few hours while we got homes and transportation set up!!! The babies have a wonderful new home and we got ourselves another duck rescue volunteer. Total win today!!! Kait Reynolds
We are so sad to announce our little buddy did not make it. We arenāt sure what happened. He was weak when we got him. He wouldnāt use his feet. We tried everything we could think of. Went to check on him this afternoon and he was going. Jen held him as he passed. Sometimes this happens in rescue. They are doing āfineā, maybe even showing improvement and thenā¦suddenly they crash. Especially neonates. We are very heartbroken as we were hoping we could pull him through. We gave this one a proper burial. He was very special to us. š¦š
O.M.G. We have this new adorable intake. He doesnāt know how to use his legs. First we had to teach him how to eat. Heās finally taking in some food. Now we get to teach him how to walk. Heās got a long road to rehabilitation but we donāt mind putting in the work. Time to get busy!

Our volunteer Gail Price is out there DOING the thing. The woman doesnāt even use a net! She talks to them and gets them to come to her, then grabs them up and removes the line/hook. They chill and let her do it. This is the third time Iāve witnessed her magic. We call her āMother Gooseā for a reason!!! This is one of the geese with fishing line at Waterfall Park. Just one more to go now and we have learned a great deal about her thanks to Vivian who called us yesterday morning to report one of the geese were up top by the pavilion. It truly is a team effort and we are grateful to our community for caring!!!

Hello everyone! As we prepare for our upcoming releases, we wanted to reach out. We are not supported by any municipality or organization. Most of what we do comes out of our own pockets. We just dropped $200 for food to get these guys TO release date. š Now we are asking for help covering gas cost of $50 to get these guys where they are going. Itās about 100 miles round trip and we have 3 trips over the next few weeks. When PEOPLE LIKE YOU help us out itās a BIG DEAL! You can donate here!!! Thank you!!! š¦š DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 501c3.

We have such an inspiring story to tell! We got a call yesterday from someone who spotted a gosling with fishing line around its leg. The caller had never rescued a goose and we were not able to get anyone to the location at that time. We spent time on the phone with the caller asking questions and providing education on how to capture, to include a list of supplies they would need. They hung up with us and got busy! They purchased supplies and went back to the park yesterday but were unsuccessful. Did that stop them? Heck no! They went back today and successfully captured the gosling, then took it to Lakeside Nature Center of KC to have the string removed. Fortunately the string had not yet penetrated the leg and the baby was able to be returned to its parents and sibling right away. Our heroes gladly took the baby back and released it. Thank you Vanessa Violet and Sam for being amazing stewards of our wildlife!!! We look forward to working with you in the future!!!
