Leverage for emancipation?

President Abraham Lincoln visited the Army of the Potomac at Antietam from October 1–4, 1862, to personally urge Gen. George B. McClellan to pursue Confederate forces after the deadly September 17 battle.

Photographed by Alexander Gardner, the visit focused on assessing troop morale, reviewing the army, and pressuring for action.

We digitally restored the original image, from the archives of the Library of Congress, then cropped and floated it in a distressed cherry frame with a Civil War-era vibe.
