It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Lois Cipalo, one of Blue Cap’s original Executive Directors.

Lois dedicated many years of service to our organization, working side by side with Ron Blouin and helping provide the leadership, vision, and stability that guided Blue Cap’s growth and success. Her commitment, compassion, and legacy continued to influence the organization long after Ron assumed the role of Executive Director.

In recognition of her many years of dedication to Blue Cap, the driveway at our 1962 building was named in Lois’s honor—a lasting reminder of the impact she made on our organization and the countless lives she touched.

As a tribute to Lois and her many contributions, you will notice bunting displayed at Blue Cap in her honor. We join together in remembering her remarkable impact and extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Streator, Illinois, with the funeral service immediately following at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Streator. Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Lois’s dedication to serving others helped shape Blue Cap into the organization it is today. She will be remembered with gratitude, admiration, and respect.

We are so proud to have welcomed two incredible Fox College interns to our Blue Cap family these past four weeks! 🌟

Jocelyn Urbazewski and Hailey Divis are studying to become Occupational Therapy Assistants, and they dove in headfirst — observing our day program, assisting with gardening and cardio drumming activities, leading occupational motor skill assessments, and facilitating sensory groups with Blue Cap individuals. They also joined us in celebrating Juneteenth with a cooking class featuring red velvet cookies, strawberry ice cream, and watermelon. 🍉🍪

Jocelyn and Hailey, your dedication, compassion, and hard work over these four weeks did not go unnoticed. We are so grateful you chose Blue Cap for your field experience, and we can’t wait to see the incredible OTAs you are going to become. Wishing you all the best on your journey! 💙

More art. More community. More Creative Me. 🎨

Blue Cap’s Creative Me is popping up — and we’re looking for local markets and businesses to partner with! Our participants create beautiful handmade artwork, jewelry, knits, and more and we want to bring it all to your space.

Hosting us is a simple, meaningful way to support individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities while offering your customers something truly one of a kind. Creative Me just participated in Beverly Area Arts Alliance x Ridge Park Advisory Council’s Art Fair & Uprising Solstice Market this past Saturday with a huge success and lots of love from the community.

Interested? Email us at [email protected] and let’s make it happen. 🤝
