Big win for Illinois consumers this week! I was proud to stand with Governor JB Pritzker as he signed into law one of my bills to create new consumer protections for “buy-now-pay-later” options at checkouts. With rising costs for just about anything you might want to buy, this new law will protect you from exorbitant fees & unfair terms. 👏

Illinois is reining in the corporations looking to make an extra dime off the backs of Illinoisans.

Enough is enough.

Today, we say goodbye to junk fees once and for all.

Had a wonderful time celebrating Juneteenth this past Friday at Speaker Emanuel "Chris" Welch’s event! It was an honor to mark this special day alongside Deputy Leader State Representative Elizabeth "Lisa" Hernandez, Judge Raines-Welch & so many community members who came out to celebrate. ✨

Today, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures who lead by example and make a positive impact every day.

Wishing all the dads in our community a Happy Father’s Day filled with family, laughter, and well deserved appreciation.

Fiscal Year 2027 Budget: Gov. JB Pritzker signs $55.9 billion spending plan 06/19/2026

Big news for Illinois families! Our new state budget prioritizes affordability as costs continue to rise. From a temporary gas tax freeze and property tax relief to vital investments in local schools, healthcare, and affordable housing, this budget is built to support hard-working families and communities. I was proud to join Gov. Pritzker earlier this week as he signed the budget into law.

Fiscal Year 2027 Budget: Gov. JB Pritzker signs $55.9 billion spending plan Democrats said affordability was the top priority for the nearly $56 billion spending plan, but Republicans believe there weren't enough cuts made to help working families.

Today, we join people across Illinois and across the nation in honoring Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and recognizes the resilience, perseverance, and contributions of African Americans throughout our nation’s history.

As we reflect on this important day, may we continue striving toward the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity for all.

As we approach America's 250th Anniversary, we have a unique opportunity to experience a living piece of our nation's history right here in the 28th District.

Tomorrow, Thursday, June 4, at approximately 12:00 p.m., Union Pacific's "Big Boy No. 4014", the world's largest operating steam locomotive, will travel through Blue Island as part of its coast-to-coast tour celebrating our nation's 250th Anniversary.

Residents are invited to witness this iconic locomotive as it crosses Broadway Street. To help ensure public safety and reduce conflicts between vehicle and pedestrian traffic, Broadway Street will be temporarily closed between Vine Street and Old Western Avenue during the event. Please plan ahead for possible traffic delays and join us for this rare opportunity to see one of America's most celebrated railroad landmarks in person.

To track Big Boy's journey and view its route across the country, visit Union Pacific's Big Boy Tracker below.

Today, I had the honor of attending the City of Oak Forest’s Annual Memorial Day Ceremony alongside local elected officials, veterans, and residents. The ceremony served as a meaningful reminder of the courage and selflessness displayed by the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. 🇺🇸
