After Tim Gall was diagnosed with leukemia, he began a fight for his survival. Donors helped Tim win his fight by supporting the compassionate care provided by Mercy Health Cincinnati Cancer and Cellular Therapy Center.
“I would not be alive today if it wasn’t for that center,” Tim says.
Tim spent weeks in the Blood Cancer Unit, much of that time in intensive care as his organs began to shut down. After chemotherapy and months of treatment, Tim received a bone marrow transplant and a second chance at life.
Throughout it all, Mercy Health surrounded Tim and his wife, Kim, with care. From coordinated medical expertise to family spaces that allowed Kim to remain by his side, every detail mattered.
“They never gave up on me,” he says. “Even when they weren’t sure I was going to make it, they kept fighting.”

Jane and Garry Moore are no strangers to pain. Both had suffered from debilitating arthritis in their knees for years. Thanks to donor gifts, they are both back to living active lives free from agony.
“Even simple things like walking and going up and down steps was the worst,” says Garry.
The Moores fortunes would change at one of Garry’s cancer treatments. He was undergoing radiation, and Jane noticed a pamphlet for low dose radiation therapy (LDRT). What caught her eye was that it was specifically talking about it being a treatment for knee pain. And thanks to donors, it was available at Mercy Health — Springfield Regional Medical Center. Their gifts helped fund the linear accelerator used to administer the treatment.
“After my cancer treatment, the doctor set me up with six visits for my knees,” Garry says. “It took one visit to feel better. I have no pain in my knees now. It is phenomenal.”

Justin Dixon believes strong communities are built when people show up for one another. This is especially true in small towns.
“At the end of the day, everybody helping everybody is how a community stays successful,” he says.
Justin brings both his leadership and his giving to Mercy Health Foundation. He is a four-term board member and current chair. As a regional bank president and local business owner, he’s long championed staying involved locally. Annual gifts are one way he supports the hospital that serves his family, coworkers and neighbors.
“Having a quality hospital right here in the community is something we sometimes overlook,” Justin says. “In an emergency, speed and access matter.”
Justin sees firsthand how foundation support benefits everyone. Donors help implement new services, purchase equipment and fund facility improvements.
“Every dollar adds up,” he says. “When you give what you can, it becomes a win-win for families and the whole community.”

As chief engineer for aeronautics at NASA Glenn Research Center, Adabelle Narvaez-Bostwick dealt with complicated issues for a living. Donor support helped her deal with the most complicated one — cancer.
“I was diagnosed with breast cancer just one week after dropping my son off for his first year of college and while my daughter was still at home in high school,” Adabelle says. “Like many women, I suddenly found myself navigating fear, uncertainty and treatment. All while still trying to be a mother and keep life moving forward.”
With her recent retirement, Adabelle has been reflecting on the impact cancer has had on her life and the toll it has taken.
“Cancer changes you,” she says. “Even after treatment ends, the journey is not over. Survivorship brings its own challenges.”
It also brings community and fellowship with other survivors. Later this year, Adabelle plans to volunteer at Dr. Mita Patel’s “Celebrate Survivorship” retreat, a program donors support with their gifts. Their generosity provides support services and hope for women and families facing one of life’s hardest battles.
“Donations like yours make a life-changing difference,” she says. “Your support gives something incredibly powerful: the chance to fight — and the chance to survive.”

Anna Davis lost her first pregnancy to miscarriage in 2019. She knows firsthand how isolating the loss of a child can feel. Out of her grief, she created something beautiful. Today, her giving spirit helps other women facing heartbreak at Mercy Health — Lourdes Hospital.
“Going through that loss like this was something I had never experienced before,” Anna says. “I wanted to help other women feel supported during such a difficult time.”
Anna partnered with the Mercy Health Foundation Lourdes to launch the Blessing Box program. These keepsake boxes are given to women experiencing miscarriage, stillbirth or infant loss. Each box includes comforting items like a candle, prayer card and journal, along with space to store precious mementos. Today, Blessing Boxes continue to offer comfort, remembrance and healing.
“The Foundation listened, cared and helped make this vision possible,” she says. “I’m so grateful they believed in this and continue to care for families when they need it most.”

Tifany Bair spent months searching for a dental provider for her 15-year-old daughter, Ashley. Many offices couldn’t accommodate Ashley’s age or special needs. It took many phone calls across Ohio and even into Pennsylvania, but Tifany finally found the specialized care her daughter needed. And she has donors to thank for it.
Donor gifts support Mercy Health — St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital’s special-needs dental clinic. For children and teens with special needs, everyday dental visits can feel overwhelming. But thanks to their support, this clinic provides a safe and understanding environment where progress happens one step at a time.
“They are just awesome with her,” says Tifany. “They understand her fears, her sensory issues and what she can and can’t handle.”
Ashley has received cleanings, cavity treatment and procedures in a hospital setting where staff understand how to support patients with complex needs.
“When we first started coming, Ashley couldn’t even get through a cleaning. Now she can,” says Tifany.
Today, Ashley visits the clinic every three months instead of the traditional six. The frequent, lighter cleanings help lessen her fear and build her confidence. For Tifany, the difference is life-changing — and it’s made possible by generous donors.
“I had a hard time finding anywhere that could help her. Here, they make it all possible,” she says. “I can’t thank the donors enough. This place has been a Godsend. Your support made sure my daughter could get the care she needs without fear.”
