Monroe County Humane Association
At MCHA, we strive to advance animal welfare, deepen human-animal bonds, and extend accessible veterinary care and humane education across our community.
MCHA does not oversee an animal shelter or the care of adoptable animals. MCHA offers various programs and services, including our Nonprofit Veterinary Clinic and Pet Food & Supply Pantry. MCHA is a 501c3 nonprofit organization fully funded by private donations, fundraisers, events, and grants. We do not receive funds from tax dollars or national organizations.
On Friday night at Tails on the Town, guests were the first to see a video produced by students in the Edgewood Junior High School Media Center program.
The video tells the story of MCHA’s tornado recovery, the damage to our campus, and the work still ahead as we rebuild with the pets we serve at the center of every decision.
These students did an incredible job. They listened, filmed, edited, and helped share our story with care and compassion.
We are so grateful to the 2025/2026 Edgewood Junior High School Media Center students and Ken Grile for using their talents to support MCHA and the animals who depend on us.
Watch the video below and help us thank these talented students for their work.

As we mentioned in a previous post, this year’s Tails on the Town features two Fund-a-Need opportunities — One focuses on the everyday work that keeps pets healthy, fed, safe, and with the families who love them. 🏠 The second focuses on recovering and rebuilding after the February tornado in a way that allows us to strengthen and improve MCHA’s campus and increase our capacity to serve animals in the future. ❤️ 🐾
Let's talk about Fund-a-Need #2: Growing Beyond Recovery 🤗
🌪 In February, a tornado heavily damaged MCHA’s campus. Walls cracked. Play yards were destroyed. Equipment and supplies were lost. Critical spaces became unusable overnight.
Supporting this Fund-a-Need helps us recover from the tornado while also building a stronger future for the animals who rely on us. This includes creating a new facility that expands our ability to keep hungry pets fed while positioning MCHA to serve as a regional resource for pets in homes, shelters, and rescues across South Central Indiana. It also includes reimagining our Crisis Housing space to increase capacity, improve safety and functionality, and create a better environment for the pets in our care. 😻
This is more than recovery. It is an investment in the future of MCHA and the thousands of animals we serve every year.
✨ DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT: We are excited to share that an anonymous donor has once again stepped forward with a $20,000 match — Every dollar you give to this year’s Fund-a-Need will be matched, up to $20,000.
