These wooden posts, black Locust, I have no idea how old they are, my bet is 40-50 years. Same with some of tge steel posts on this place, still solid. Dad has cedar posts at home he planted as an eighth grader, then I had the pleasure of replanting them as an eighth grader. Meanwhile I've got treated post I pounded in for an eqip grant that rotten and not twenty. Lots of fence arranging going to get done this summer.

Got tired of lugging this roll of barbed so I paused to take a break. Lots of big sandstone rocks in this woods. The geologist say that this part of Indiana was never glaciated. That rock serves as evidence. There is no granite on this farm, no limestone sticking out, but in places huge chunks of sandstone. Those poplar are about 90 years old by my reckoning. Puts them as saplings in the great depression. I dont know if this woods was ever farmed. I would be curious to dig down and see how deep the A horizon is. It has an old cabin site, an old well, a drained pond site, my uncles knew the lady that lived there. She grew to***co where my cows graze. I figure this woods was clear cut in the 20s, maybe earlier. If you look at old family pictures there aren't near as many trees in the background. Well, break is over, burning daylight and we still have plenty of beef in inventory for summer grilling. It's delicious, and nutritious.

Sunrise while breeding cows, rebuilding fence, cowbirds doing their job, a little boy that said he didn't know how his chickens got up there, and skillet chili with ground beef that is available at the house
