Big things happening with the Greene County Historical Society

Greene County is rich with history, and it recognized where it got its namesake for the first time.

Every year WildCare stops by and drops off a poster talking about Wine and Wildlife at Butler winery.

They’ll be wine tasting, animal ambassadors, silent auction, live music, food trucks, merchandise, crafts and so much more.

It’s a great day out for the whole family and a great cause too.

We stopped in and had a snack at this fantastic little ice cream shop. You really need to try this out, I had an ice cream recommended by the clerk who by the way is the son of the owner. His mom was in the back making up great food and he was out front telling us all about it. Really unique flavors of ice cream, and cool snacks, a perfect place for lunch or a midday nosh.

June 29th the Bloomfield Lions Club will be working with the Bloomfield First Christian Church on this Drive through Food give away, last month we gave a total of 200 meals between the drive through (in the pouring rain) and from the fridge outside Persimmon Tree Foods and Gifts later that evening.

If you are looking to feed yourself or your family, just show up (Line up starts on Jefferson St facing North. Some streets will be blocked to make the flow of traffic work, so you are best to enter Jefferson St down by the Fire Station and drive up until you see the line.

Volunteers will come out to your vehicle and find out how many meals you need, and then direct you on when to move up and receive your meals.

Food insecurity is on the rise at a rapid pace, according to Feeding America, this time last year 1 in 7 Hoosiers were struggling to access daily necessities.

In April of this year a central Indiana study found 54% of households faced food insecurity at some point last year, including families above the poverty line.

We do not ask anyone to qualify why they need food, we just feed them.

Our volunteers also receive a weekly donation of food from any excess Stoll's Lakeview Restaurant has from their buffet. this is portioned out by our volunteers and placed in the refrigerator outside of Persimmon Tree Foods and Gifts . Again no one has to qualify for it, no paperwork, no questions about your lifestyle, or monetary situation, just food if you are hungry.

📣The Bloomfield First Christian Church & Bloomfield Lions Club have partnered together to bring you a free community drive thru dinner!
We were able to serve 80 meals at our first drive thru dinner in May & 120 more from our fridge in front of Persimmon Tree Foods and Gifts. In addition to the BBQ dinners in the fridge, we also served 123 quarts of homemade ham & bean soup. We are looking forward to sharing with you again in June!

🎈There will be balloons and signs to show you where to be. Stay in your vehicle.
🥹😀A volunteer will come to your window & ask how many meals you are picking up, they will put a colored sign under your windshield wiper with this number, another volunteer will get your meals & trade it for the number sign and then you are on your way!
👣*If you do not have a car, we will have a place for you to pick up your meal.
No delivery.

The Tacos Al Pastor food truck on Leonard Springs Rd in the parking lot of Plaza West has some great tacos. I got 3 Al pastor street tacos and it came with green sauce and fresh lime.

WOW - totally worth it at $12 for 3.
