The 2024 Block Island Pride was a resounding success, bringing together the LGBTQ+ community and allies for a vibrant celebration of love, diversity, and inclusion.

Attendees enjoyed a weekend filled with colorful parades, engaging workshops, and lively entertainment, all set against the backdrop of Block Island's stunning coastal scenery. The event, now in its 4th year, continues to grow and foster a sense of unity and acceptance.

Hello Block Island,

Thank You for Another Beautiful and Successful Block Island Pride! I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Block Island community for making this year’s Pride so memorable. The weekend was full of love, joy, and celebration, creating an atmosphere that will keep my heart warm until next year’s Pride on September 12-14, 2025.

I’d like to recognize the many individuals and organizations who made this event a success. From volunteers to performers, your dedication is deeply appreciated.

I also want to address a troubling incident during Drag Queen Story Hour. A bomb threat was called into the Block Island Fire Department, turning what had been a joyful event into a moment of panic. Parents rushed to gather their children and belongings, fleeing in fear. It was heartbreaking to see the joy turn to confusion as people comforted one another.

The cruel irony of the situation is clear. In an attempt to "protect" children from the creativity of drag, someone endangered those very children. This reminds us of the challenges we face as Q***r people, but it also underscores the importance of Pride events that promote acceptance, love, and community.

My deepest thanks go to the Block Island Fire and Rescue team and the Police Department for their swift response, ensuring the safety of everyone. Your professionalism allowed us to continue Pride without further incident. I also want to give a huge round of applause to The Island Free Library for its support.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Block Island Pride. Together, we’ve created a space that is safe, loving, and welcoming for all.

I’ve been spending some time digging into the history of q***r leather fashion and culture. Leather people walked so we could run.

Calling all Drag Performers, Musicians, DJ's, Artists, and Vendors! Block Island Pride is now booking entertainment for its upcoming event, taking place from September 14th-17th.

We invite you to be a part of the celebration and showcase your talents. We are seeking talented Kings & Queens, Musicians & DJ's with a preference for House Music and Modular Techno. Painters, Sculptors, Performance Artists, Film Editors, and Vendors are also welcome to apply.
