Don’t forget June 23 from 9 to 11. We will be having a diabetes awareness and education event for senior citizens age 60 and up on diabetes, awareness and education. The program is called food is medicine and the first 50 seniors who have been diagnosed as diabetic or pre-diabetic will receive a box of diabetes, friendly food, along with some education materials.

We’ll be in a tent right outside of the health department! Please help share this valuable program!

Take a minute to think about this…

Data isn’t meant to make us feel discouraged. It’s meant to help us know where to focus.

The 2026 KIDS COUNT Data Book shows Georgia ranked 39th in child and family well-being. Behind every statistic is a child, a parent, a classroom, and a community.

At Pierce County Family Connection, we believe local action creates lasting change. Whether it’s mentoring students, supporting young families, promoting literacy, helping families access services, or bringing community partners together, every connection matters.

The question isn’t ‘Why is Georgia 39th?’

The question is ‘What can we do in Pierce County to make sure our children thrive?’”

I went and played giant Yahtzee at the Senior Center today! We had so much fun a lot of them had never played before.

Let me tell you it was a workout for me bending over and picking up those dice every single time they rolled 😆

But a fun time was had by all ❤️
The end score red 96 versus black 98.
It was a nailbiter!

We were too busy having fun to take pictures of the crew!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

I attended the southern Georgia regional commission work source Georgia community conversation today.
They had so many resources for people who were looking for employment no matter the age or ability they had a program for it.

I am always so impressed with the resources we have available throughout the state. Now, if we can only help those who need it to find those same resources ❤️ our unemployment rate would be the lowest in the nation 😊

Take a minute to think about this:

What role will you play in helping Pierce County’s children and families thrive?

Georgia ranks 39th out of 50 states for overall child and family well-being, according to the 2026 KIDS COUNT® Data Book, released today by the Annie E. Casey Foundation.

Georgia’s story is one of contrasts. Our state made its most significant gains in economic well-being, with child poverty declining and teen employment increasing. But those gains are being undermined by worsening health outcomes. Georgia fell six places to 45th nationally in health—and we continue to struggle in the education and family and community domains.

Georgia is at a crossroads. The path we take depends on the choices we make today. We have an opportunity to make significant gains—or risk falling further behind.

At Pierce County Family Connection, we believe change happens when communities come together. Throughout this week, we’ll be sharing local KIDS COUNT data and highlighting ways we can work together to improve outcomes for children and families right here in Pierce County.

Because every statistic represents a child, a family, a neighbor, or a future we can help shape.
