High Performance Distance Academy

A high school distance running camp on the campus of Virginia Tech The focus for camp is training and is recommended for motivated runners.

All abilities are welcome; the only requirement is the desire to be better. Athletes should prepare for training and have run in the weeks prior to arrival. Besides training, athletes will be instructed by collegiate coaches, health professionals, and top athletes on motivation, nutrition, biomechanics, weights and circuit training, goal setting, injury prevention, & sports psychology.

Hocker wins men's 5000m final for worlds gold Following up his 1500m gold from Paris 2024, Cole Hocker won the men's 5000m final in 12:58.30 at the 2025 World Track and Field Championships in Tokyo after being disqualified in the 1500m earlier in the competition.
