Deputy Tim Sanford and his wife were enjoying their beach vacation when they noticed a woman struggling to pull her friend out of the water. Deputy Sanford immediately jumped up and ran to help. He started CPR and was able to get her pulse back until medics arrived. Deputy Sanford says that what he did is just a testament to his commitment to public safety. He adds that even while on vacation first responders are always on duty.

On yesterday May 15, Deputy Willie Hall was honored in Washington D.C. along with other law enforcement officers on Peace Officers Memorial Day! Deputy Hall’s family joined the memorial services held in D.C. His son even had to the opportunity to trace his dad’s name on the memorial wall honoring fallen lawmen.
The suspect in these videos, was filmed breaking into vehicles in the Rosser Farm subdivision in Bessemer. There have been other car burglaries in the area, in which firearms have been stolen. Sheriff Mark Pettway is hosting the “Summer with the Sheriff” internship program from July 11th – July 29th for rising high school seniors. This three-week program will give rising seniors in high school an inside look at the various roles available within the Sheriff’s Office and the criminal justice system. This is a great opportunity for any student who is interested in a career in criminal justice or law enforcement. It’s pretty evident that the students at Chalkville Elementary had a great time today at their Careers on Wheels event. We were able to demonstrate how our Mobile MACC Unit and Bomb Squad work. The students were able to meet K9 Riley and even receive a badge from @sheriffmarkpettway. We look forward to this event ever year and appreciate the invitation.
