Expect More is a free, group-based coaching program, facilitated by a full spectrum doula, for expecting parents and caregivers between 12 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. This weekly program prepares you for a positive transition into parenthood and a strong first year with baby, with coaching on coping strategies, partner communication, positive parenting, and more. Breakfast and course materials included.

Crochet Stars Workshop
Amanda Banks

Learn to make a galaxy of crochet stars with artist Amanda Banks! In this three-hour workshop, Banks will teach you everything you need to know about making crochet stars, including the five foundational crochet stitches, how to work in the round, and how to finish a project. Banks’ dress is featured in "Embodied: Contemporary Takes on the Dress," an exhibition currently on view in the Fourth Floor Gallery.

Amanda Banks is an artist and research professional based in Huntsville, Alabama. Her practice merges a multidisciplinary education in engineering, global business, and textiles to create thought-provoking work about labor and care. Amanda is a 2026 South Arts Emerging Traditional Artist, VP of Special Projects for the Alabama Women’s Caucus for Art, and Craft Yarn Council certified instructor with more than 30 years of crochet experience.

This workshop is made possible in part by a grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts.
