Paul preached uncompromising grace! In fact, you see him rebuking the church in Galatians 1, 2, and 3 for returning to self-righteousness and religion and for allowing the gospel to be perverted. He used Abraham as our example of pure grace, and his cornerstone teaching was: “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” By simple faith in Jesus Christ for our righteousness, we become children of God and joint heirs with Jesus. Our identity in Christ, our inheritance in Him, and the “righteousness of faith” gives us hope no matter what our circumstances!

First Adam brought in sin; Last Adam brought in righteousness! In one fell swoop, one man sinned and brought judgment and condemnation and death to all of us. In one fell swoop, one Man (who never sinned) obeyed by dying our death on the cross resulting in the free gift of His righteousness for everyone who simply believes! It’s not merely that we are forgiven, but over and above being forgiven, the righteousness of Jesus Christ is put to our account. We have moved from a prison of sin, to a prison of righteousness.
