Samford commencement ceremony, 1969. CONGRATULATIONS to all those graduating this weekend -- and here's wishing all of you the very best in your next chapter!

Surprise, surprise, surprise! The pizzas are here early, so the study break starts early too! Y'all come and chow down!

And thanks once again to for making it possible!

Has dinner worn off and got you in the mood for some free pizza? Don't worry, fam -- we got your back. Just one hour to go before the late-night pizza break on the 1st floor!

If it's Finals Tuesday (and it is), then it's time for a late-night study break with some FREE pizza! Join us tonight at 10pm on the 1st floor by the Circ Desk -- and HUGE thanks to for making it possible once again!

The Samford University Library is proud to once again host the Samford Student Research Colloquia tomorrow starting at 9:30 am!

The colloquia is sponsored and organized by the Research Advisory Collaborative, in partnership with the Office of Research. It is a public forum where Samford students (undergraduate and graduate) present their scholarship and research. The library hosted the first-ever colloquia on April 22nd of 2022 with an impressive turnout in terms of both submissions and visitors -- and we're looking forward to another great event this year!

Please be advised that noise levels in the building will be elevated during this time due to the colloquia. BSOB 351 will be available in nearby Cooney Hall if you desire a quieter place to study. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation.

Finals are next week, so that means the library's once again open for extended hours in case you need to burn the ol' proverbial midnight oil!

You can always find more information about our hours of operation at

Today is not only Samford Giving Day, it's also National Library Workers Day! To all the librarians, library staff, student assistants, & volunteers working hard out there every day, THANK YOU for being so awesome!

Join us for Samford Giving Day -- a 24-hour celebratory event to support and further the mission of our beloved Samford University! Gifts of all sizes and to all areas help make the Samford experience even better for more than 5,700 students. Whether a little or a lot, every gift counts!

Here's how you can help the library help make the Samford experience better for students across campus!

1.) Visit the Samford Giving Day website at

2.) Scroll down and select "University Library"

We can't wait to see what the collective effort of the entire Samford community is able to accomplish. Thank you for your participation!

Just a quick reminder about tomorrow's Poster Workshop in our Computer Classroom! Drop in at 2pm or make an appointment with a helpful librarian at!

Undated (though we think it may be from the 1930s or 1940s) postcard of Fort McClellan Chapel, Silver Chapel in Anniston, AL. The back says "Beautiful mission type chapel for regular garrison where both Catholic and Protestant services are held." We hope you have a joyous Easter Sunday, wherever your services are held.

Although chocolate has long been a multinational obsession with the global confectionary market having generated $1.1 trillion in 2023, U.S. consumers (at least the ones surveyed) tend to look to domestic producers for their sweet treats. What's your favorite?

Got a research poster presentation coming up that's stressing you out, but couldn't make yesterday's workshop? We got ya fam! Join us Wednesday at 2pm for another one -- or make an appointment with one of our librarians by visiting our website at and selecting "Meet with a Librarian" from the "Bookings" column.

We couldn't let (or March in general) end without showing our Samford Women's Basketball some love as well. Here's the team from 1999-2000.

HAPPENING NOW -- Join us in the Computer Classroom and we'll help you create a poster presentation that's "out of this world!"

The library has two new databases available on a trial basis until April 23rd for use by current Samford students and employees. For more information, visit our website at and click the "Databases" button.

Just a quick reminder that our Academic Poster Workshop is tomorrow! Research poster presentations don't have to be something to fear, because the library is here -- here to help you create a poster that's "out of this world," that is...

The Samford University library will be closed Saturday through Monday in observance of the Easter holiday. We will close at 5:00 pm on Friday, March 29th and will re-open at 7:30 am on Tuesday, April 2nd. We wish everyone a joyous holiday weekend -- including a safe journey for those of you who are traveling to visit loved ones.

With "International Day of Happiness" being this past Wednesday (which was first proclaimed by the United Nations in 2012), this seemed an appropriate to share.

The survey asks respondents to rate their level of satisfaction with their current life on a 10-point scale, from which national averages were calculated. According to the survey data Finland, Denmark, and Iceland are the happiest/most satisfied countries on Earth, with the USA ranking 23rd of the 143 countries surveyed.

Wherever you are, we hope this weekend brings you lots of happiness!

Coming to campus for Day? We're open 7:30am to 6:00pm today, with friendly librarians/staff/students who are happy to answer any questions you may have about our resources & services that can help you along your journey. Enjoy your visit today!

Another pic of the first appearance for Samford Men's Basketball in 1999. Here's hoping they snag a "W" from Kansas tonight and the celebration from the watch party in the University Center can be heard all over town!

Got a research poster presentation coming up that's stressing you out? Well have no fear -- the library is here! Join us next Thursday and we'll help you create one that's "out of this world" during our Academic Poster Workshop!

Nothing new on the list of recent acquisitions this week, but getting notifications when the library adds titles to your favorite subjects is as easy as 'point and click!' Photograph of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cullman, Alabama, circa 1910s. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Originally a religious holiday on the alleged death date of the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick's Day (or Lá Fhéile Pádraig as the Irish call it) has become largely secularized (not to mention commercialized) in the U.S. since the first ever parade on Saint Patrick's Day was held in New York City in 1762.

Data from this survey from the National Retail Foundation goes on to show that 62% of respondents plan to celebrate the holiday in one way or another. 82% of those celebrating plan on wearing green, 29% want to cook a special dinner and 27% aim to celebrate at a party in a bar or restaurant.

The Samford Men's Basketball team are bound for the 1st time as champions, but their 1st time in the big dance was as champs of the Trans America Athletic Conference -- now known as the Atlantic Sun Conference.

We may not have any new books about Samford Men's Basketball winning the SoCon tournament (though we hope someone writes one soon), but we do have 26 new items recently added to our collections! Visit our website for more information on our new acquisitions:

Spring Break is upon us -- and while most of our students are away (hopefully doing something fun and exciting) we'll be open 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Thursday this week and will be back to our regular hours come next Monday.
