Everyday we interact with others. We walk past them at the local grocery store. We see our neighbors walk in and out of their homes. We pass up strangers on the road. Not knowing a thing about what’s going on in someone’s mind. One of the easiest ways to conceal a wound, is to ACT like it doesn’t exist. However, behind closed doors it’s real, exhausting and heavy. Not all wounds are obvious, in fact emotional and psychological wounds are the easiest to hide. Be kind 💕

Working in the field of addiction is really challenging. It takes patience, passion and dedication. Not everyone I meet makes it out of this vicious illness. But for the ones that do, it’s a remarkable journey to witness.
This family member relied to my story last night. I remember her being present at every court hearing, I remember her tears and I damn well remember her strength. Today, we both have witnessed journey and are proud as hell to say he is clean and sober. Living a life full of good health and happiness. Recovery is possible. We must not give up!

A lot of people have asked who is this chick talking about addiction in our community. Well, my name is Batool Makki. And I was born and raised in Dearborn, Mi. I am a proud graduate of Fordson high school. Growing up I always had a passion to help others. So, when I decided to pursue a higher level of education I wanted to empower a population that was stigmatized within my community. I wanted to be a voice for those who felt voiceless. I also wanted to lend a hand to someone that was struggling. And so, I choose the field of addiction. I am a proud graduate of the university of Detroit mercy where I majored in addiction studies. I proudly graduated with honors and am the founder of Makki Consulting LLC. This is me, I’m just a humble gal born and raised in the beautiful city of Dearborn, Michigan. 🤲🏼
