Came across this pic today of Rex reporting to the set of the Parade Scene for Ashley Causey's film Discovery, 2022.
This is the Stalking Danger scenes, Conspiracy version. I was so proud of Rex's work, including coming to Marcus and letting him put a rope on, staying with him until after the "murder", then running back to the porch.
I am so proud of Rex's work on Mysterious Circumstance: The Death of Meriwether Lewis it's hard to choose a favorite scene, but these are my two favorites: Stalking Danger, the Conspiracy version, and the tear jerker Dying Scene. They were the most fun to train and to shoot. This the Dying Scene only because it won't let me post both at the same time. Even Magical Unicorns cannot live forever.
Rex collapsed yesterday afternoon when we were enjoying a beautiful day in our yard. I was able to revive him somewhat, but he died in my arms later at the vet, having failed to stabilize. I really have no adequate words.
Rex was a magnificent companion and partner, always willing to try anything and did it all so very well. I am grateful he was such an amazing dog and for all the adventures we had together, and for the friends we met, but mostly I am grateful for how much Rex loved me. He was entirely devoted to me and would literally do anything for me; he never left my side until yesterday. We survived a house fire together as well as a head on collision. We traveled many miles in the Rexmobile competing in the highest levels of Agility as well as Rally Obedience, Nosework, Sheep Herding and Duck Herding. Rex was a licensed Therapy Dog, a Trick Dog, had all of the Canine Good Citizen certificates. He was a gentle giant, a perfect gentleman and was kind to all people and all animals his entire life.
This "memory" popped up yesterday of us at the campground on location four years ago for the filming of Mysterious Circumstance: The Death of Meriwether Lewis, another experience for which I am so very grateful which started our final excellent adventure together in film.
I know I am lucky to have had Rex by my side and at my feet for 14 years, lucky to have had all of those wonderful experiences and excellent adventures, grateful for the memories and photos and the videos and the movies made along the way . . . but of course I still wish there had been more time with my bestest boy. They never stay with us long enough.
I am so grateful to all of you who loved Rex. That means so much to me.
