Advocacy doesn't happen in a single meeting. It's built through conversations, relationships, and showing up.
This week, SBCA's Advocacy National Subcommittee spent time in Washington, D.C., meeting with congressional offices, federal agency leaders, industry partners, and HUD staff to discuss the issues impacting structural building component manufacturers and the broader construction industry.
From workforce challenges and housing affordability to the role structural building components play in increasing housing supply, the conversations were productive, thoughtful, and focused on helping policymakers better understand the issues impacting our industry and the workforce, housing, and manufacturing policies that can help address the nation's housing crisis.
We also joined our partners in the American Business Immigration Coalition (ABIC) along with several Members of Congress for a press conference in support of the Dignity Act, highlighting the importance of workforce policies that strengthen U.S. manufacturing, support the construction workforce, and help address the nation's housing affordability and availability challenges.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the week a success. Every meeting, conversation, and relationship helps elevate awareness of our industry, reinforces the critical role component manufacturers play in addressing the nation's housing challenges, and strengthens SBCA's position as a go-to resource on issues impacting housing, home building, construction, and manufacturing.
The work continues, but it was a strong week for advocacy and an important opportunity to ensure our industry's voice is being heard.
