Big Spring Police Department and Howard County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrived on scene. Upon arrival, officers observed two males laying in the front yard in the 1600 Block of Oriole identified as Willis J. Duval, B/M, 44 years of age, and Marcus D. Pena, B/M, 23 years of age. Big Spring Fire Department and Allegiance EMS arrived on scene and attempted life saving measures which were not successful. Run For The Wall to Stop in Big Spring Saturday for Vietnam Memorial Ceremony
The West Texas Veterans Memorial will welcome more than 300 motorcycle riders participating in the annual Run For The Wall on Saturday, May 16, during a special stop at the Big Spring Vietnam Memorial.
The ceremony will take place from 9:22 a.m. to 10:02 a.m. at the Vietnam Memorial in Big Spring as riders make their way to Washington, D.C., as part of the nationwide tribute ride honoring veterans, active-duty military, POW/MIA service members, and those who never made it home.
Members of the West Texas Veterans Memorial Board will present commemorative challenge coins to each rider participating in this year’s ride in appreciation of their dedication to keeping the memory and sacrifices of America’s veterans alive.
The community is encouraged to attend and show support for the riders and the mission behind Run For The Wall. Organizers are especially inviting Vietnam veterans and Gold Star families connected to the Vietnam War era to be part of this meaningful event.
“This is an opportunity for our community to come together to honor the service and sacrifice of those who served during the Vietnam era and to welcome these riders as they continue their journey across America,” organizers said.
Run For The Wall began in 1989 and continues annually as a cross-country motorcycle ride promoting healing among veterans while calling attention to prisoners of war, those missing in action, and all who served.
Community members attending are encouraged to arrive early due to the large number of motorcycles expected in the area.
