Four Star Fresh

Dear Friends:
Rising costs for ingredients and packaging and a considerable increase in rent on our kitchen in the North Dam Mill in Biddeford has pushed us to reconsider how to move forward Four Star Fresh. We have decided that we can no longer afford to keep the kitchen space and have not renewed our lease. We are looking into other ways to continue to provide pasta locally, but we definitely will be operating at reduced capacity if and when we renew production. We do not plan to participate in farmers’ markets any longer. We will update plans by word-of-mouth and here on Facebook, but for the time being and while supply lasts, we will only be stocking shelves at Part & Parcel in Biddeford.

We thank all of you for your support and your friendship over the past nine years. Seeing you and talking pasta at markets and in shops has meant everything to us and we hope these treasured relationships will endure.

Just restocked the shelves at Part & Parcel: Fresh Semolina Pappardelle, Fettuccine, Trenette, and dry Rigatoni, Orecchiette, Casarecce & Radiatori.

Though we will not be at the Kennebunk Farmers Market this season, you can still get fresh and dry pastas at Part & Parcel in Biddeford. If you don't see what you want on their shelves, or if you are stocking up for the summer, let us know.

PESTO! Looking forward to seeing all of you at the Kennebunk Farmers’ Market this Saturday, 9/4, our last market of the season. Sue made pesto, puttanesca, tomato sauce, sharp cheddar mac&cheese sauces and polenta to accompany semolina, supergreen, lemon pepper, squid ink and gluten-free pastas. Should be great weather and a great start to the Labor Day weekend.

Back to the Kennebunk market on Saturday, 8/21 with Lemon Pepper Fettuccine (shown here partially sheeted waiting to be cut), Supergreen, Whole Wheat, Gluten Free (6 packages, so come early), and Semolina pastas. We’ll also have polenta, San Marzano Tomato Sauce, Puttanesca and Sharp Cheddar Mac & Cheese sauce. Heat and humidity made it impossible to extrude pasta, so no dry pastas this week. Hoping for better weather before the Labor Day finale. Hope to see you there.

We’re back to the Kennebunk Farmers’ Market Saturday with more Puttanesca. We’ll also have fresh Semolina, Supergreen, Lemon Pepper, Squid Ink and Whole Wheat pastas, Polenta, Mac & Cheese sauce, Tomato sauce and dry pastas.

Returning to Kennebunk Farmers’ Market Saturday, 7/24. We’ll have Semolina Fettuccine, Pappardelle, Trenette, Tagliolini, Squid Ink Trenette, Gluten Free Fettuccine, Whole Wheat Tagliolini, Super Green Fettuccine, Lemon Pepper Fettuccine, Extruded Dry Pastas, Polenta, Tomato Sauce, Puttanesca, Sicilian Eggplant Caponata, Sharp Cheddar Mac & Cheese Sauce, Basil Pesto. Come ‘n get it, 8:00-1:00 or until it’s gone.

Four Star Fresh Spaghetti with Puttanesca. We had this for dinner last night while keeping an eye on the Giants (7-run 13th for the win). You can get the fixings at the Kennebunk Farmer’ Market Saturday, 6/26, and have it too (we strongly recommend it). We’ll also have limited amounts of Supergreen Fettuccine, Whole Wheat Tagliolini, Sharp Cheddar Mac & Cheese sauce, and a cooler full of Semolina pasta, San Marzano tomato sauce, Polenta with Parmigiana & Black Pepper, and all the dry, extruded pastas.
