Kindergarten Readiness (Ready K!) was a blast. These four students were so excited to be together having fun. Play dough, puzzles, scissors, sparkle crayons, tape, glue, art dotters, Pete the Cat buzzers, pipe cleaners, craft sticks, watercolors, beads… They hardly noticed the letter recognition, counting, and sorting we slipped in. Fancy the dog was a hit, as always.

CSI: Owl Pellets was an eye-opener for all of us – including me! We all gingerly attached our own owl pellet with larger toothpicks, small tweezers, and magnifying glasses. Amazingly, we began to recognize skulls, tiny ribs, and leg bones. We used helpful charts to sort the bones of the prey, AND we took all of our treasures home with us.

Gamifying education has its place, especially in areas where more exposure to the material = better recall. Multiplication games included Monster Sock Factory, War, mazes and more.

Tutoring has always been the main focus at BRT. However, this summer we interrupted some of our longterm students’ tutoring sessions to offer them some other choices during their summer vacation. Summer Book Club was a hit! We cheered when we finished reading on the last day, then celebrated with Wild Robot cupcakes from Kayla Rose Nielsen Provost, and they were delicious! (I even had one for breakfast!) 🧁📚📖
