Panic who? Not our animals! Our friends are getting cosy in their beds to wait out the storm. 😴

But what about our native species? Massachusetts alone has 14 species of snake 🐍... how do they survive the winter? 🤔
They have been in their own cozy beds! Many of our wild friends will burrow deep in the ground/mud or in dens where they will be able to endure the cold temps thanks to brumation. Unlike hibernation which is a continuous deep sleep, brumation is a state of dormancy where the animal will wake periodically to drink. The random warm days that keep us going sane in the winter? We aren't the only ones who thrive! 🐢🦎🐸

If you are heading to the store (in Salem MA) don't forget to grab a reusable 'give back bag' at the Salem ​Shaws. $1 of each bag sold will be donated to the animals. The program only has one week left.
